Earlier, Today the County Government of Machakos received expression of Interest from Investors who attended County Aggregation Industrial Parks (CAIP)Showcasing Forum.
The occasion was presided by Chief officer Bruce Isika

The CAIP programme which is 40 percent complete will be a game changer in the Manufacturing sector as it is going to create employment opportunities for Youths and Women, increase value addition for products as well as reduce post Harvest losses.

The program which is jointly funded by National and County Governments began on November Last year and the works on the ground speaks volume of H. E the Governor Wavinya Ndeti's commitment on job creation and her clarion call Chakula Mezani pesa Mfukoni.

Further, the County Government is expected to support women SMEs projects through Wikwatyo Funds and through supportive Industrial policy frameworks that support Investment.

Both Governments will also work together and agree on tax incentives that will attract potential Investors in the CAIP programme which is expected to be delivered after completion by May 2025.

The Kenya Association of Manufacturers, today held a WIM2 Counties Regional Forum for Women in Manufacturing. The meeting was held at Seo Hotel in Machakos Town.

The forum brought along different market leaders on SMEs, National and County government officials, Banking sectors officials and other stakeholders that support manufacturing sectors.

The Forum is the 5th of its kind that aims to inspire more Women to participate in Manufacturing sector and works towards an inclusive future for everyone. The tenets for the programme is building capacity for women especially on Knowledge and skills.

The County Secretary Dr. Muya Ndambuki read H. E the Governor’s speech, which emphasized the need for women inclusiveness in Manufacturing sector. The County Government officials laid elaborate plans and Policy Interventions that has been put by H. E the Governor to remove barriers that inhibit Women growth in the sector.

The established Programs in SMEs and Industry sector such as County Aggregated Industry Parks(CAIP) and Economic Stimulus Program (ESP) markets jointly done by National and County government will enhance value addition on products and reduce post harvest losses. These programs will create employment to youth and women in the sector.

Women are the foundation of societies and by empowering them and providing leadership opportunities , they are able to network and create elaborate partnership and bridge the gender gap in the Sector.

H. E the Governor, Wavinya Ndeti has commissioned Wamunyu livestock market for traders in Mwala Sub County in line with her Manifesto.

The County government through Department of Trade and External Relations and SMEs has many ongoing projects which the governor has committed to complete this financial year.

Wamunyu Market is one among those projects and is expected to have Modern market stalls that will accommodate livestock traders.

The Market will help curtail bottleneck practices which often cut out livestock farmers from fetching good prices for their livestock.

Other, markets that the department has completed successful include Ekalakala,Kivaani and Ndalani Market.

H.E the Governor Wavinya Ndeti, Today presided over the ground breaking of Economic Stimulus Programme Market at Kithimani and Masinga.

The program initiative aims to Invigorate the market and ease trading of goods and create value addition to farmers produce.

The ESP market programme will help avert economic slow down and encourage Small Scale traders get on their feet and thus necessitate economic growth.

The Multi Billion project initiative that is being undertaken jointly by National and County Governments will cushion small scale traders against tough economic times and further boost traders in line with micro small and medium enterprise economic pillar policy.

Further, the market programme is expected to create job opportunities and increase wealth at house hold level.

Today, H.E the Governor Wavinya Ndeti was glad to host the Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry, Hon. Rebecca Miano to the first ever Machakos County Industry Roundtable.

Machakos County Government has taken a deliberate strategic policy decision to champion the County as a centre for Investment, Industrialization and Innovation.

Industrialization continues to be the backbone of the economy and the forum stirred the impetuous to discuss mutual areas of partnership and collaboration with investors.

Earlier Today, H.E the Governor held a strategic consultative meeting with the Chairperson of the Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest) Board, Madam Sally Mahihu at Mavoko Office.

The meeting deliberated on areas of strategic partnership between the County Government of Machakos and KenInvest.

The discussions further explored on investment profiling for investor preparedness in key sectors including: manufacturing, agro-processing, housing and real estate, tourism and health.

These sectors have high potential to create job creation, major investments return and Innovation anchored development.

Earlier Today, H.E. The Governor hosted the South African High Commission to Kenya, H.E. Mninwa Johannes Mahlangu and His delegation who paid her a courtesy call.

The meeting discussed strategic areas of collaboration and partnership in improving trade and investment between Machakos County and the Republic of South Africa.

The strategic areas of collaboration discussed will open greater trade and investment opportunities, and will subsequently offer more job opportunities for our youth and women. The collaboration will also enhance innovative businesses.

The County Government through Department of Trade & External relation, Investment, Industry, Innovation and SMEs, acknowledges the significant role of partnerships in entrenching Machakos as the preferred Investment and industrial hub in the country and the region.

Ending hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition for all will require continued and focused efforts, especially in Asia and Africa Continents due to under development and high poverty levels.

SDG goals 2, outlines commitment by all governments to comprehensive, integrated and universal transformations, including ending hunger and malnutrition by 2030.

Machakos County Government has partnered with Global Alliance for Improved Nutritions (Gain) a Swiss-based foundation launched at the United Nations in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition.

GAIN is focused on improving the accessibility and consumption of nutritious safe food for everyone, especially the most vulnerable to malnutrition in a sustainable way.

One area of focus is on uptake of vegetables and their nutritious value.

Therefore, GAIN in collaboration with Machakos County Government is undertaking a training workshop with the Communication Departments and County - based Journalists with the aim of increasing, visibility of messaging, and a better understanding of the Vegetable for All project and enhanced coverage of the project activities.

The overall goal is to position vegetable as a diserable food and change current food perception that it is a poor Man's food.

Further, GAIN, has helped in construction of a Cold Store Market in Machakos County for vegetable traders which will enhance the safety and freshness at the point of purchase for quality consumptions by residents.

The Deputy Governor Hon. Francis Mwangangi today met newly employed Trade officers at Machakos County Social Hall for induction process.

The DG outlined the expectation of trading officers which included and not limited to Invoicing.

The trade officers are expected to be deployed to ward level to enhance coordination of revenue collection alongside Revenue collection officers.

According to Word Bank report, Machakos County Government has potential of Collecting Revenue of Ksh 6Billion and to realize this target, the Departments of Trade, Industry and Innovation and SMEs have employed adequate staff to actualize this vision.

To seal loopholes on missing targets on revenue collection. The County Government through H. E the Governor has directed transfers of public officers who have overstayed in one station and are cohabitating with cartels to frustrate full revenue collection.

Further, The Deputy Governor urged Traders to pay their taxes as outlined in the County Finance Act and also to cooperate with the deployed officers for better service delivery.

Also in attendance for the Meeting were Chief Officers for Trade Simon Kitheka and his Counterparts Winnie Musyoki for SMEs and Bernice Kioko of Tourism among other county officials.

The new Trade officers are expected to work with integrity while discharging their duties and to adhere to all government regulations.

Bujumbura, Burundi - The Machakos Deputy Governor H.E Hon. Francis Mwangangi on behalf of the Governor H.E Wavinya Ndeti was among leaders who graced the opening ceremony of the 23rd edition of the annual EAC MSMEs Trade fair being held under the theme" connecting East African MSMEs to enhance intra EAC Trade".

This has attracted artisans from all the seven (7) EAC partner States comprising of the Republic of Burundi, The Democtratic Republic of Congo, the Republic of Kenya, the Republic of Rwanda, the Republic of South Sudan, the Republic of Uganda and the United Republic of Tanzania.

The main objective of the Trade fair is to contribute towards the realisation of the region's development goals and aspirations by lending support to this budding sector of the economy.

The Trade Fair will provide market linkages; convergence of ideas and opportunities; and a platform for meaniful collaborations that will promote economic transformation in the region.

This year's edition is also featuring a daily symposium aimed at enhancing awareness on the capacity of MSMEs .
Other topics discussed at the symposium include opportunities for regional integration, elimination of non- tariff barriers, harmonization of EAC common currency, adoption of value addition and appropriate use of technology for MSMEs in the region.

Also accompanying the Deputy Governor is the Sector Chief Officer Winnie Musyoki, the Machakos County assembly Trade Committee and other county officials.
