The Kilifi County Department of Health, in collaboration with the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC) and the County Commissioner’s Office, hosted a two day training on the Partner Reporting System (PRS). This effort brings together key stakeholders to enhance our community's health response and streamline how we track progress.

The focus of this training is to strengthen multisectoral reporting, data management, and accountability across the county. By mastering the PRS platform, our teams will be better equipped to monitor HIV, the Triple Threat, syndemic diseases, and other critical community health interventions. Accurate data is our strongest weapon in the fight against these health challenges.

We believe that strong data leads to better decisions and stronger communities. This training is a major step forward in improving coordination and evidence based decision making at the sub county level. We want to ensure compliance with high data quality standards and align our local efforts with national health priorities for a healthier Kilifi!

The Kilifi County Department of Health and Sanitation Services has reinforced its strategic efforts to achieve near zero maternal and child mortality rates across the region. In a high level follow up engagement meeting, led by H.E. Flora Chibule, Deputy Governor of Kilifi County, department officials united with Maternal, Newborn, Child Health, and Nutrition (MNCH+N) Grassroots Champions under the Okoa Mama na Mtoto Initiative (OMMI).

These community based advocates operate across all seven sub-counties, bridging the gap between local healthcare facilities and households to promote life saving health and nutrition practices.

The forum provided a platform for health officials and grassroots advocates to review progress, share field experiences, and analyze data driven strategies. By examining the real world impact of current interventions, the department and its partners reaffirmed their mutual commitment to sustained, impactful collaborations.

This review is central to the county's broader mission of accelerating the reduction of preventable maternal and child deaths through strengthened community health networks.

Demonstrating that child survival is deeply linked to holistic development, the event also highlighted a formal commitment to the initiative, ensuring every child in Kilifi accesses quality early childcare and foundation level education.

The strategic meeting brought together senior health officials alongside prominent development partners, including Shina Foundation Founder and Chairperson, H.E. N**i Kivutha, and Fanikisha Foundation Founder and Director, H.E. Christine Mvurya, cementing a unified front for the health and future of Kilifi’s families.

Today, Kilifi County Department of Health commemorated Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 at Vitengeni DOs Grounds in an event led by Hon. Clara Chonga, the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Gender, Culture, Social Services, Sports and Special Programmes. The celebration was held under the theme “Together for a Period Friendly World,” bringing together government departments, development partners, youth groups, community organizations, and residents to champion menstrual health, dignity, and gender equality.

The event featured activities designed to promote health and well being, including HPV screening, HIV Testing Services (HTS), blood donation, and footballing drills. These services provided community members with an opportunity to access vital healthcare while also creating awareness on menstrual hygiene management and the importance of supporting girls and women to manage their periods safely and with dignity.

Speaking during the celebrations, Hon. Clara Chonga emphasized the importance of breaking menstrual stigma and ensuring that every girl and woman has access to menstrual health information, sanitary products, and supportive environments. She called for continued collaboration among stakeholders to address barriers that hinder menstrual health and education, noting that creating a period-friendly world requires collective action from families, schools, healthcare providers, community leaders, and development partners. The event reaffirmed Kilifi County's commitment to promoting the health, empowerment, and well being of women and girls across the county.
