The Door Kenya is a registered charitable,Non Governmental Organization situated in Ngegu Village, Kiambu municipality in Kiambu Sub-county. It's main operation is the running of Napastaa Heimen Children's center which was started on the 14th of March 1994 with 8 street street boys. The number then rose to 16,the 22 and now the home has grown to accommodate over seventy children. The Door Kenya a
lso supports other children who are non- resident wit educational needs through the outreach mission. Currently The Door Kenya has over 110 children in primary & secondary schools, colleges and universities. It is giving all basic needs to all the 80 children who are accommodated at Napastaa Heimen. It also pays salaries the 13 workers who are duly employed. So far over 40 children have successfully gone through nursery to secondary school, vocational training, college or university graduation. They have moved out of Napastaa residential stay to independent living in the community
The Door Kenya has also been involved in several community developments including building of a football field in a nearby school, organizing fun times for children and the youth, guidance and counseling to the youth in the community, offering H.I.V and AIDS awareness and care through home visits and seminars among others. The Door Kenya also runs a micro finance ( URERI) whose main activity is to help start small businesses with an aim of improving the living standards of the poor in the community.
