As Kenya turns 60 years, it is disheartening that girls iñ marakwet East are being Held hostage by barbaric cultural practices like Female Ge***al Mutilation. The news fròm Embobut my ancestral land that a law enforcement officer lost his life because he was protecting the dignity of a girl is shocking to say the least. Mý deepest condolences to the family and friends of the officer. He should be vetted post humously as an hero and defender of the dignity of the marakwet girl child.
Female ge***al mutilation is a rettogressive culture just like bandittry and cattle rustling" just like slavery and racial discrimination. They belong to yester years' not our time.
The killing of a law enforecment officer yesterday by angry mob of culturally charged women is an eye opener on the risks that such cultural practices poses to our peace and progress as a nation.

Marakwet East has been left in the peripheral margins of the kenyan society and such cultural practices has continued to thrive .
It is a wake up call that progressive leaders should focus on awareness; on empowerment of local communities and streghtening the rule of law .

Yesterday's decision by the CS interior Dr. Fred Matiangi and the accompanying security team to take a decisive action in ending the killings in Kerio Valley is commendable albeit it being late. Alot of irreparable damage has happened in Kerio Valley for decades.

While recognising the fact that the state bears the greatest responsibility to protect the lives and property of it's people and it will do this at all costs, I would urge the planned disarmament excercise be done within the confines of the laws of the land.
History has it that such exercises has led to impunity characterised by grave violations of human rights, extra judicial killings and wanton destruction of property. Kerio Valley has already lost alot in terms of human lives and property and such excercise should not increase it.
Let the concerned authorities identify the chick and the hen, so as to avoid further misery of the citizens.

It was both fun and serious business as I went to Embobut , kipchumwa sub location to get to know them better. There were moments of sadness as residence shared heartbreaking stories of the landslide which took place close to 2 years ago. Many are still traumatized about the incidence as they talk of thier missing kin who were never found. They talk of the the losses they suffered.
Many are very afraid of the possibility of another landslide happening.

I was perturbed by the real danger that the loose soils hanging in dangerous cliffs are posing. There are open cracks in the loose soils.

I am schocked that there is no real disaster risk preparedness in place.
Another disaster could be waiting .

For the people of Kipchumwa Location and Embobut Embolot, I am grateful for the warm reception.
Much love from your Incoming Mama County.

Hi Everyone, I am glad you are here, I am elated to have you on board. I am aspiring to be the next Women Member of Parliament ( popularly known as Woman representative) for Elkeiyo_ Marakwet. I want to be the voice of the marginalised, to raise thier voices and bring them to the negotiating table.
From my analysis, women Agency is quiet underdeveloped in my county. Very few women have risen to their full potential. The bulk of the Women are at the lower part of the pyramid hence wasted potentials. I want to support the women to break the barriers of thier development. This are economic, social and cultural barriers. This can be possible though gradual, deliberate actions which shall which I shall initiate when given the chance.

Young people are equally underdeveloped. In Elkeiyo Marakwet
Financial support for Higher education is scarce if it is available anyway. Young people donot get the opportunity to grow beyond basic or secondary education.
My tenure will support scholarships for higher education.

I will support job linkages for young people. Access to decent jobs is a basic human right.

I will support peace and security in my county through establishing dialogues , promoting access to justice and rule of law, promoting peaceful co-existence , and social cohesion .

Please support me towards achieving this great ambition.
