Kapsabet Nandi Water and Sanitation Company Ltd (KANAWASCO) is a corporate entity incorporated in December 2006 under the Companies Act CAP 486 of the Laws of Kenya by the now defunct Municipal Council of Kapsabet and transferred to the County Government of Nandi after the promulgation of the new constitution in 2012. The Company is licensed by the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB) to prov

ide water and sanitation services in Kapsabet and Nandi Hills towns. The Company is governed by the Board of Directors whose membership is drawn from the stakeholders. The daily running of the business is undertaken by the Management Team headed by the Managing Director.

The Managing Director Alfayo Lel today led staff, guests, and community members in vibrant celebrations during the official opening of the company's new offices in Nandi Hills. The event was filled with songs, dance, and excitement as they gathered to mark a significant milestone in KANAWASCO's journey to enhance service delivery and bring its services closer to customers.

The ceremony was graced by Nandi Hills Ward MCA Hon. Edwin Kiprop Kemboi and Nandi Hills Sub-County Administrator Barnabas Talam. The new offices were also dedicated through prayers and a sermon led by Rev Nila Bassy alongside Rev Elijah Chepkisa of ACK St. Barnabas Kapsabet.

Speaking during the event, the MD said the new offices would enhance customer service and strengthen the company's presence in Nandi Hills. He noted that the investment reflects KANAWASCO's commitment to providing reliable and efficient water and sanitation services to residents.

Hon. Kemboi commended KANAWASCO for expanding its services, saying the new offices would improve access to customers and support development in the area. Mr. Talam praised the company for its continued efforts to improve water service delivery and encouraged residents to support initiatives aimed at ensuring sustainable access to clean water.

Today, we concluded our successful participation in the trade exhibition held at Eliud Kipchoge Complex grounds, with the final day attracting customers and stakeholders from across the region. The event was graced by Kenya National Chamber of Commerce Chairman, Dr. Erick Rutto, who toured exhibition stands.

KANAWASCO Managing Director Alfayo Lel attended the company’s booth alongside Board Chairman Joseph Ngetich, Board Members CPA Abraham Tarbei and Engineer Michael Chebii. Staff members actively engaged visitors, providing information on services and responding to customer inquiries.

The exhibition offered a valuable opportunity for public engagement, networking, and showcasing KANAWASCO’s commitment to quality service delivery.

𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀,
We would like to inform you that we experienced a major technical problem on the main line serving Kapsabet Town, which interrupted our normal water supply routine. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused and greatly appreciate your patience and understanding during this period.

Led by the Managing Director Alfayo Lel , a team of technical officers worked tirelessly to restore the affected pipeline and ensure water supply services returned to normal as quickly as possible.

We are pleased to inform you that the pipeline restoration works have now been successfully completed, and water supply will start flowing gradually as distribution normalizes across the affected areas.

𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗘 𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗗 𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗡𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗜 𝗛𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗦 𝗪𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗝𝗘𝗖𝗧 𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗧 𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗧𝗬

Nandi Hills has taken a major step toward improving access to clean water after the official handover of project sites to a contractor for the Nandi Hills Water Supply Project last mile connectivity works.

The exercise was witnessed by the Central Rift Water Works Development Agency, Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency, County Government of Nandi, Office of the Nandi Hills MP, and KANAWASCO.

The project will include construction of two 200m³ reinforced concrete tanks at Kaplelmet and Ketbarak, a 100m³ masonry tank at Kabikwen, a 50m³ break pressure tank at Sosiot, rehabilitation of the existing 30m³ water office tank, laying of about 52 kilometers of pipelines, 500 consumer connections, and solarization of Mokong and Taito treatment plants.

WATER SECTOR ROUND TABLE WITH THE HIGH COMMISSION OF CANADA

Today, KANAWASCO had an opportunity to attend a high level meeting with senior officials and technical experts of the Ministry of Water, Sanitation & Irrigation and the High Commission of Canada in Nairobi.

The closed-door discussion focused on five interlinked themes: Non-Revenue Water (NRW) diagnostics and utility performance, pipeline condition assessment and asset management. Digital water monitoring and data systems, Wastewater treatment and industrial effluent management and Human capital and technical skills development, including training needs and opportunities for collaboration with international education institutions

The session also explored areas where targeted technical assistance could add value in the near term, while helping to better understand medium-term technology and partnership opportunities aligned with Kenya's water sector priorities.

Strengthening Efficiency Through Strategic Oversight and Collaboration

Managing Director KANAWASCO Alfayo Lel continues to uphold a strong and productive working relationship with the Office of the Auditor General and the Nandi County Assembly on matters related to accountability, transparency, and service excellence through constructive engagement, regular audits, and oversight sessions.

This afternoon together with his management team, met PIC members at the County Assembly and auditors to review progress on resolution of concerns that had been raised by the Auditor General in the Qualified Opinion Report on the financial statements.

These institutions work hand in hand to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen financial management systems, and ensure prudent utilization of public resources.

This collaboration not only promotes compliance with regulatory frameworks but also reinforces public trust and supports the delivery of reliable and sustainable water services to our communities.

Together, we remain committed to efficiency, integrity, and continuous improvement in service delivery in the County Government of Nandi.

𝗞𝗘𝗬 𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗗 𝗜𝗡 𝗞𝗜𝗣𝗞𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗘𝗡 𝗗𝗔𝗠 𝗪𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗝𝗘𝗖𝗧

Mosoriot town, one of the fastest-growing urban centres in Nandi County, is set to benefit from improved water supply following the official handover of the Kipkarren Dam Water Treatment Works and its pipeline infrastructure to a new contractor.

The handover ceremony was conducted in the presence of Water Works Agencies, marking a key milestone in efforts to meet the rising demand for clean and reliable water for some parts of Nandi and Uasin Gishu County. Managing Director Alfayo Lel joined Uasin Gishu Governor H.E. Jonathan Chelilim, chief executive officers of Water Works Agencies, and project engineers during the event.

The Kipkarren Dam Water Treatment Works has a current treatment capacity of between 24,000 and 25,000 cubic metres of water per day, which is expected to adequately supply households in Mosoriot and surrounding areas. Officials noted that the facility has been designed with room for future expansion, allowing capacity to increase to 32,500 cubic metres per day as demand grows.
