*COUNTY WOMEN EXECUTIVES JOIN CONGREGANTS OF CHURCH OF CHRIST AFRICA FOR WOMEN SERVICE.*

Today, Sunday 20, 2024, Kakamega County women executives led by Mrs. Mariam Barasa joined faithfuls of Church of Christ Africa in Bunyala East, Navakholo sub county for prayers.

The CECM for Lands and Physical planning, Dr. Mariam Barasa, informed the congregation that it's important to have title deeds for their parcels of land. She also asked them to ensure smooth transition during succession of lands. She encouraged congregants to maximise on their land use by venturing into agricultural production which boosts Governor Barasa's Food security agenda. Further, she used the opportunity to inform the Church of Governor Barasa's plans for the area, urging them to rally their support behind Governor Barasa's administration.

Mrs. Rachel Atamba, CECM Trade, encouraged the women to form business groups so as to benefit from County empowerment fund and business loans. She said the County will renovate Nambacha stock ring at a cost of Ksh. 9 million to provide a good environment for livestock trade.

Also present was the County Attorney, Mrs. Vivianne Mmbaka who on her part advised the locals to respect the rule of law.Further she empowered women to enroll their children to TVET programs ongoing in all County polytechnic schools

Also present were, area MCA Hon. Rodgers Nato and Community area administrators.

CECM RACHEL ATAMBA URGES COMMUNITY TO SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES AT IKOLOMANI FUNERAL

Today, CECM for Trade, Industrialization, and Tourism, Ms. Rachel Atamba, represented Governor Fernandes Barasa at the final send-off of the late Wilmina Lidoro in Idakho South Ward, Ikolomani Subcounty.

During her address, Ms. Atamba highlighted several key development achievements under Governor Barasa's administration. She mentioned the ongoing construction of an ablution block and bodaboda sheds at Shisejeri Market, encouraging the community to participate by offering local manpower. She also urged residents to plant tea in preparation for the upcoming Madala Tea Factory, where the Governor is set to lay the foundation stone in December 2024—a project expected to boost local agricultural and economic growth.

Ms. Atamba noted plans to establish a stock ring at Musoli to support the livestock sector in the area. She reminded residents of the importance of timely revenue payments to ensure sustained development and continued access to county services. She concluded her speech by advising locals to form groups, register, and take advantage of the county's microfinance loans, available at a soft interest rate, to empower small businesses and foster community development.

The late Wilmina was eulogized as a dedicated teacher, farmer, and community leader who impacted lives in numerous ways.

Also present were Idakho South Ward Administrator Mr. Dida Mutesa and Shabwali Community Area Administrator Mr. Albert Ndusi, among other senior government officials.

TRADE EXECUTIVE HANDS OVER AN ABLUTION BLOCK TO KHWISERO TRADERS TO BOOST SANITATION

An ablution block constructed to provide sanitation facilities for traders and other market users at Khwisero market was on Monday 12/8/2024 handed over to the market committee by the CECM for Trade, Industrialization and Tourism Ms Rachel Atamba in the presence of the Chief Officer for Trade, Enterprise development and Weights Ms Faith Gitira.

The handover reflected the County's commitment to improve infrastructure in trading facilities in all the 12 Sub-Counties in line with Governor Fernandes Barasa's sanitation agenda that guarantees access to essential services in a healthy and safe environment propelling the wealth creation agenda.

Ms Gitira highlighted the importance and County Government's commitment of maintaining proper facilities in public facilities.

Present was the Chief Officer for Water Ms. Mariam Were, Subcounty admin Mr. Kasaya among other senior government officers.

*TRADE CECM SIGNS PERFORMANCE CONTRACT WITH CHIEF OFFICERS*

In the spirit of accomplishing departmental objectives and mandate, the CECM for Trade, Industrialization and Tourism Ms Rachel Atamba today Monday 12/8/2024 morning signed the 2024-25 Financial Year performance contracts; with the Chief Officers for Trade, Enterprise development, Weights and Measures Ms Faith Gitira and her Tourism and Industrialization counterpart Mr Saxon Kweyu.

This follows Governor Fernandes Barasa's directive requiring all Departments to cascade the performance management tool he signed with County Executive Committee Members, to staff in the lower cadres, in an effort to enhance service delivery in the County as outlined by the Governor's Manifesto.

Ms Atamba reminded the Officers to implement the programmes and projects within the Ministry conclusively and directed Directors to further sign appraisal documents with their respective officers. She said the Department, mandated with operationalization of markets, industrial parks and industries among others, is key in realizing the Governor's wealth creation agenda and challenged in charge officers to live up to the expectations.

Present was the Department's PC champion Mr Mmosi Otundo as well as staff from the respective units.

Today, Friday 9th August 2024 in Ikuywa Village, Isukha South Ward, Shinyalu Sub-County, I condoled with the family of the late Charles Mutenje Lukale, who passed on August 2nd, 2024. In this time of grief, I encouraged the family to continue trusting in God, our greatest comforter. I also advised the widow, Mrs. Angela Wilunda Lukale, to register with the Sub-County Widows’ Association Coordinator to ensure she benefits from the support available under H.E. Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa’s social development program on Widows.

May the family find strength and peace during this difficult time. May the soul of Charles Mutenje Lukale rest in eternal peace. 🕊️

TRADE CECM INSPECTS MODERN ABLUTION BLOCKS IN LIKUYANI SUB-COUNTY

To advance Governor Fernandes Barasa's wealth creation and sanitation agenda in Kakamega County, the CECM for Trade, Tourism and Industrialization Ms. Rachel Atamba on Friday inspected the ongoing construction of new modern ablution facilities in Kongoni and Sango Wards in Likuyani Sub-County.

The facilities are expected to impact positively on the well-being of the residents and enhance trade in the area as envisioned by the Governor's Manifesto.

Ms. Atamba directed the contractor to ensure they are completed within the agreed timelines to enable improved service delivery to the residents and provide a convenient working environment for the business people. The CECM added that they will be connected with electricity and water to further improve the standards.

Chief Officer for Trade, Enterprise Development, Weights, and Measures, Ms. Faith Gitira was present during the exercise.

On 1st August 2024, I attended the County Forum where the Governor, H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa instructed Kakamega County Executives to intensify monitoring of County Government funded projects and programmes in their respective dockets to guarantee effective service delivery to the residents. He said regular spot checks on the projects should should be a normal routine aimed at ensuring delivery of quality services by contractors.
Some of the areas under review during the meeting were the rates of absorption of funds for development programmes, payment of pending bills and implementation of stalled projects.
