Good evening Team, Navakholo, Mumias West, Mumias East, Matungu, Butere, Lurambi and Kakamega North.
Kakamega County is in a desperate need for fresh, experienced and visionary leadership to lead it to the next level. The County requires a leader who will confront the socio economic issues afflicting the County head on. No society can take off in any endeavor if it is being led by visionless and ideologically bankrupt leaders. Besides recycling people who have been tested as members of National Assembly, Senators and Cabinet Secretaries and found incompetent cannot be trusted with the demanding seat a Senator or a Governor. Therefore, the County requires a fresh beginning with other like minded leaders to give it a fresh start. We will talk about personal traits later but for now most critical issues are Caring for Persons with Disability and Community Based Learning (CBL) in the Context of COVID 19 Pandemic:
Awareness of the risks in the two areas leads to better responses that can allay the disproportionate impact experienced by persons with disabilities, My objective is to :
1) Bring awareness of the pandemic's impact on persons with disabilities and their rights :
2) Draw attention to some promising practices already being undertaken around the world :
3) Suggest way forward for community based support for Persons with Disabilities and with regard to Community Based Learning :
We need to appreciate that Education is the foundation of democracy, as such it must work for all young people. Yet far too often young people disengage from learning and do not reach their full, human potential. Community Schools, places where partners come together to offer a range of supports and opportunities for Children, Youth, Families, and Communities before, during, and after school, address this need by using community based learning to re-engage students in education and to create the conditions for their success.
