Today, 7th March 2026, the Wajibika Community Centre proudly joins partners and community champions in preparation for the upcoming International Women’s Day celebrations.
We are honored to participate in an important stakeholders’ meeting organized by the Independent Medico-Legal Unit (IMLU) as they prepare to host an International Women’s Day activity in partnership with the Right to Life Committee and Women in Justice Centres – Western Chapter.
The meeting is taking place at Kosawo Hall, bringing together partners committed to advancing women’s rights, justice, and protection from gender-based violence.
This engagement provides an opportunity to strengthen collaboration, amplify women’s voices, and reaffirm our collective commitment to ensuring that women and girls live in dignity, safety, and equality.
At Wajibika Community Centre, we believe that empowering women means empowering communities. As we approach International Women’s Day, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that promote justice, wellness, leadership, and economic empowerment for women and girls.

16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence KAKAMEGA COUNTYCalls for Action! 🧡
Today, we join the world in marking the 16 Days of Activism (25 Nov – 10 Dec), a global movement to end violence against women and girls. In Kakamega County, women, girls, and vulnerable groups especially those in artisanal mining communities, farm families, and informal settlements continue to face hidden and unreported cases of GBV.
⛏️ Female artisanal miners endure exploitation, unsafe working conditions, harassment, and limited access to justice.
🌽 Rural women in agriculture often carry economic burdens, yet experience domestic and economic violence in silence.
👩‍👧 Girls and young mothers face risks of early pregnancy, school dropout and sexual exploitation.
It’s time to break the silence!
🕊️ Wajibika CBO Stands With Survivors
Together, we commit to;
🔸 Promote safe workplaces for artisanal miners
🔸 Advocate for protection and justice for survivors
🔸 Empower women and girls economically
🔸 Engage men and boys as champions of change
🔸 Strengthen community reporting and support systems
💪 Violence anywhere is a threat to progress everywhere.
Let’s work together to build a safe, just and inclusive Kakamega where women and girls can thrive without fear.
🧡 Orange the World. End GBV Now!

On Saturday, our team proudly joined other Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in a 2KM Alcohol Prevention Awareness Walk in Butere Sub-County, Kakamega County. 🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏽‍♂️
The walk, sponsored by Blue Cross Kenya in partnership with KEYNET, brought together communities, leaders, and youth under the theme:
“Alcohol Prevention Awareness Walk.” 🍃
At Ikolomani Wajibika, we believe in a healthier, empowered, and more productive community. Alcohol abuse continues to affect families and young people, and together, we can create safer spaces by raising awareness and promoting positive lifestyles. 💪🏽
👏🏽 A big thank you to our partners, organizers, and community members who turned up in large numbers to make this initiative a success!
