Upendo Conservation Area

Upendo Conservation Area The Upendo Conservation Area is a small community-based conservation area in Bungoma County, Kenya

The Upendo Conservation Area is set aside for the community of Mwiyenga and its visitors to enjoy nature and to protect the remaining wildlife along a segment of the Nakhwana River. This wildlife includes a variety of frog species that use the conservation area for breeding. The conservation area is currently under development, but it includes a tree nursery for growing 10,000 indigenous trees to

be planted in the conservation area and in the community. Proposed plans for the area include a small hiking trail, benches for sitting and enjoying nature, and some educational programs for the community. The conservation area is managed by a community conservation committee. For further information, please contact Silas Wekesa via email or Messenger.
