Strengthening our alliance through shared knowledge. The U.S. Army Japan Co-Op program is about building connections. This was on full display as the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force NCOs of Co-Op 118 and their USARJ Soldier sponsors visited Yokohama North Dock.

SGM Joshua Hintz and MSG Robert Blakeney Jr. from the 836th Transportation Battalion provided a brief on the battalion's vital mission and capabilities supporting Japan and the wider INDOPACOM AOR. These joint experiences are what the Co-Op program is all about: working together, learning from each other, and building friendships that make our alliance stronger!

The 836th Transportation Battalion celebrated four remarkable Master Labor Contractors who have dedicated their lives to our mission. With individual careers spanning 30 to 40 years, they have stood side-by-side with us, ensuring the success of U.S. Forces Japan and strengthening the bond between our two nations.

Together, they represent 140 years of unwavering commitment. We are humbled by their loyalty and inspired by the legacy they continue to build every day.

Huge thanks to the amazing team from the Camp Zama American Red Cross for coming out to Yokohama North Dock! They provided critical CPR and AED training to 12 of our Soldiers, Civilians, and Master Labor Contractors from the 836th Transportation Battalion.

Emergencies can happen anytime, anywhere. We are proud to have more personnel trained and ready to react and respond in a crisis!

The 10th annual Yokohama North Dock Run was a massive success! Hosted by the 836th Transportation Battalion in proud collaboration with the USAG-Japan’s MWR and the Yokohama North Dock Run Committee, this year's event brought together over 5,000 runners for a truly unforgettable experience. The run is described as a "friendship run" or running festival that promotes camaraderie and positive interaction between the U.S. military community and local Japanese communitie.

From the 5K to the Half Marathon race, the day was filled with energy and community spirit. We were honored to welcome the Governor of Kanagawa Prefecture and city of Yokohama government officials, highlighting the strong partnership between the 836th Transportation Battalion and the local community.

Thank you to everyone who supported the run! We look forward to seeing you all next year!

The 836th Transportation Battalion recently executed a mission set demonstrating its unparalleled operational reach and critical strategic value within the Indo-Pacific Theater. The battalion successfully deployed independent Port Management Teams (PMTs) to simultaneously coordinate complex redeployment operations across four geographically dispersed locations spanning three separate nations. These synchronized efforts directly supported key regional initiatives, including Resolute Dragon 25 (RD25), Marine Rotational Forces-Darwin (MRF-D), and vital logistical support for the 1st Multi-Domain Task Force (1MDTF). This demonstrated capacity to coordinate and sustain concurrent, multi-site logistical operations across vast distances decisively reinforces the battalion’s role as an essential force enabler in the region.

The 836th Transportation Battalion hosted the Honorable Minoru Kihara, Member of the Japanese House of Representatives, Chair of the Research Committee on National Security Affairs for the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), and former Minister of Defense (2023–2024), for a capabilities brief.

LTC Jackson delivered a comprehensive overview, highlighting the critical role of both the 836th Transportation Battalion and Yokohama North Dock in supporting operations across the Indo-Pacific Theater. The brief concluded with a focus on the battalion's diverse efforts to strengthen its bond with the local community and reinforce the enduring US-Japan alliance.
