Cafe & patisserie jaune earned a loyal following thanks to its pastries made with locally sourced ingredients from Kurayoshi and Tottori. Though the café is compact with only three seats, it offers a warm and cozy atmosphere.

Located at Sakaiminato, Kaishin is a popular restaurant loved by both locals and tourists. In Japan, aside from the four distinct seasons, there is a rainy period before summer known as “tsuyu”. Hydrangeas are the iconic flowers that beautifully decorate this time of year. Native to Japan, they once fascinated Europeans, who nicknamed them “Rose du Japon”.
One of the most distinctive characteristics of hydrangeas is that the color of their flowers change depending on soil acidity. Normally, in acid soil, the blossoms tend to be blue; in neutral soil, they appear purple; and in alkaline soil, they turn shades of red or pink.

✨Stunning view of 20,000 fireflies dancing in the darkness at Fukumaki Hotaru-no-Kuni

Have you ever wondered what it would look like if stars fall to the ground? If so, you won’t want to miss visiting Nichinan during the wonderful two weeks in late June.

Although the number of fireflies has been declining in recent years, around 20,000 of them, found only in clean, unpolluted waters, still gather at Fukumaki at the beginning of summer. Watching these tiny lights dance gracefully through the night is truly breathtaking.

Take your time and enjoy a peaceful stroll along the one-kilometer firefly trail at Fukumaki Hotaru-no-Kuni. To protect the fireflies’ natural habitat from excessive artificial lights, including car headlights, shuttle buses operate between Michi-no-Eki Nichinan Hinogawa-no-Sato
