カスパルス・クルムホルツ次期駐日ラトビア大使は、ラトビア投資開発庁（LIAA）の中川アルタ日本代表とともに、東京ゲームショウ2026に出展しているラトビアのゲーミングハードウェア企業、Azeron（アゼロン）のブースを訪問しました。🇱🇻🎮

今回の訪問では、Azeronのチームの皆さんにお会いし、日本をはじめ世界のゲームコミュニティに向けて展示されている革新的なゲーミングキーパッドを実際に見ることができました。

自分たちの仕事に情熱を持ち、世界中のゲーマーに革新的な製品を届けようと取り組んでいるチームの皆さんとお話しでき、とても有意義な時間となりました。

ラトビアのヴェンツピルスで設計・製造されているAzeronのゲーミングキーパッドは、高いカスタマイズ性を備え、革新的な技術、機能性、そして個性的なデザインを組み合わせています。Azeronのブースは多くの来場者で賑わっており、日本をはじめ世界のゲームコミュニティから製品に大きな関心が寄せられている様子が印象的でした。

Ambassador-designate of Latvia to Japan Kaspars Krumholcs visited the booth of Latvian 🎮 gaming hardware company Azeron at Tokyo Game Show 2026, together with Arta Nakagava, Head of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (Latvijas Investīciju un attīstības aģentūra - LIAA) Representative Office in Japan.

During the visit, we had the opportunity to meet the Azeron team and see their innovative gaming keypads showcased to the Japanese and international gaming community. It was inspiring to meet a team that is truly passionate about what they do and committed to bringing their innovative products to gamers worldwide.

Designed and manufactured in Ventspils, Latvia, Azeron’s highly customizable gaming keypads combine innovative engineering, functionality and distinctive design.

The Azeron booth was buzzing with visitors, and it was great to see such strong interest in their products from the Japanese and international gaming community.

We are delighted to see Latvian innovation represented at one of the world’s leading gaming events and wish the Azeron team a successful Tokyo Game Show 2026!

本日、ラトビア🇱🇻は、国連🇺🇳に加盟してから35周年を迎えました。

この35年間、国連はラトビアにとって、国益を推進し、国際協力を強化するとともに、国際社会が直面するさまざまな課題への対応に積極的に貢献するための重要な場となってきました。

また、ラトビアが2026～2027年の国連🇺🇳安全保障理事会非常任理事国を務めることは、国際の平和と安全の強化、ルールに基づく国際秩序の擁護、そしてロシアによるウクライナ侵略の常態化を阻止するため、より大きな責任を担う決意を示すものです。

Today marks 35 years since Latvia 🇱🇻 joined the United Nations 🇺🇳 During this time, the UN has served as an important platform for advancing Latvia’s interests, strengthening international cooperation, and actively contributing to efforts to address global challenges.

Latvia’s membership of the UN 🇺🇳 Security Council for 2026-2027 demonstrates our readiness to assume greater responsibility for strengthening international peace and security, defending the rules-based international order, and preventing the normalisation of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

🇱🇻🇯🇵ラトビアと日本の戦略的パートナーシップが、着実に次の段階へ進んでいます。

🇱🇻🤝🇯🇵 バイバ・ブラジェ外務大臣と、日本の英利アルフィヤ外務大臣政務官は、ラトビアと日本の関係をさらに強化するための具体的な協力分野や可能性について協議しました。特に、2025年に構築された両国の戦略的パートナーシップの推進に焦点を当て、安全保障および経済分野における協力について意見を交わしました。

💬 会談では、ロシアによるウクライナへの侵略戦争と、国際社会によるウクライナへの継続的な支援が重要な議題となりました 🇺🇦。ラトビアは、日本による一貫したウクライナ支援を高く評価しています。ブラジェ外相は、ロシアの責任を追及するとともに、国際法に基づくルールに則った国際秩序を強化するため、引き続き両国が協力して取り組む必要性を強調しました。

外務大臣との会談後、日本代表団はラトビア外務省のアンジェイス・ヴィリュムソンス外務次官との二国間実務協議を行い、引き続き訪問日程を進めました。

Latvia’s Foreign Minister Baiba Braže and Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Arfiya Eri discussed specific areas of cooperation and opportunities to further strengthen relations between the two countries. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the Strategic Partnership between Japan and Latvia established in 2025, including cooperation in the fields of security and the economy 🇱🇻🤝🇯🇵

💬 Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and the international community’s continued support for Ukraine 🇺🇦 was also a key topic of the discussion. Latvia highly appreciates Japan’s consistent support for Ukraine and emphasises the need to continue working together to ensure Russia is held accountable and to strengthen an order based on international law.

🇱🇻🇯🇵カスパルス・クルムホルツ次期駐日ラトビア大使は、三井住友フィナンシャルグループ（SMFG）の髙島誠会長と意見交換を行いました。髙島会長は経団連副会長およびヨーロッパ地域委員長も務められています。

大阪・関西万博で築いた良好な協力を次につなげ、ラトビアと日本の戦略的パートナーシップの経済面をさらに具体化していくことについて意見を交わしました。

日本企業のラトビア訪問やビジネス交流をさらに促進し、投資、イノベーション、新たな協力の機会を広げていくことについても議論しました。

また、経済分野に加え、文化交流のさらなる可能性についても意見交換を行いました。2027年にはリエパーヤが欧州文化首都となります。 両国の文化的なつながりをさらに深める良い機会となることが期待されます。

🇱🇻🇯🇵 Ambassador-designate of Latvia to Japan Kaspars Krumholcs held a very constructive exchange with Makoto Takashima, Chairman of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMFG), who also serves as Vice Chair of Keidanren and Chair of its Committee on Europe.

Building on the strong cooperation developed during Expo 2025 Osaka, the discussion focused on how to give further practical substance to the economic dimension of the Latvia-Japan Strategic Partnership.

They discussed promoting more business visits to Latvia and expanding opportunities for Japanese companies in investment, innovation and new areas of cooperation.

The conversation also covered the potential for stronger cultural exchange. In 2027, Liepāja will be a European Capital of Culture, offering another opportunity to deepen cultural and people-to-people ties between Latvia and Japan.

Chairman Takashima also kindly introduced the impressive art collection on display, adding a warm cultural dimension to the meeting. The Ambassador-designate expressed his sincere appreciation for the generous hospitality.

9月10日から11日にかけて、北欧地域最大の外交・安全保障フォーラム「Riga Conference 2026」が開催されます。
今年のフォーラムには、世界各国から影響力のあるリーダー、専門家、外交官、政治家、企業経営者が一堂に会します。
今回の議題の中心となるのは、欧州の経済的レジリエンスと、国内外から生じる新たな課題に対して結束して立ち向かうための共通戦線の構築です。

This year, the forum brings together influential leaders, experts, diplomats, politicians and business executives from around the globe.

🇱🇻🤝🇯🇵 ラトビアと日本の経済関係をさらに前進させるため、取り組みを続けています。

次期ラトビア大使 は、日本貿易振興機構（JETRO）の片岡進副理事長と大変有意義な意見交換を行い、両国企業のつながりをさらに強化し、具体的な協力につなげていく可能性について議論しました。

大阪・関西万博におけるラトビア企業の参加や、これまでのラトビアからのハイレベル訪問に対するJETROの力強い支援に、改めて感謝の意を伝えました。こうした機会は、ラトビアと日本の企業や関係者が直接つながり、新たな協力の可能性を探る貴重な場となっています。

また、ラトビアのテクノロジーの最新動向、そしてリーガで開催される国際イベントや既存のプラットフォームを、日本企業との交流や新たなビジネス機会の創出にどう活用できるかについても意見を交わしました。

日本ではバルト地域への関心が高まっています。一方で、長期的な協力には信頼、人的関係、そして継続的な取り組みが不可欠です。

ラトビア大使館は、LIAAをはじめとする関係機関と連携しながら、日本側の関心を具体的な協力やビジネスの機会につなげ、ラトビアと日本の戦略的パートナーシップの経済的側面をさらに深めていきます。

🇱🇻🤝🇯🇵 We continue working to advance economic cooperation between Latvia and Japan.

Ambassador-designate of Latvia had a very meaningful meeting with JETRO President Susumu Kataoka to discuss how to further strengthen connections between Latvian and Japanese businesses and translate mutual interest into concrete cooperation.

The Ambassador expressed appreciation for JETRO’s strong support for Latvian companies at Expo 2025 Osaka, as well as for its engagement during high-level visits from Latvia to Japan. These occasions have provided valuable opportunities for direct interaction between businesses and stakeholders from both countries.

The discussion also covered recent developments in Latvia’s technology as well as how international events and established platforms in Rīga could be used more effectively to create new connections and business opportunities with Japan.

Interest in the Baltic region is growing in Japan. At the same time, lasting cooperation requires trust, personal relationships and consistent engagement.

Together with LIAA and other partners, the Embassy will continue working to turn this interest into concrete opportunities and further strengthen the economic dimension of the Latvia–Japan Strategic Partnership.

🇱🇻🇯🇵 本日、日本が独立を回復したラトビアを正式に承認してから35周年を迎えます。

1991年8月21日、50年以上にわたるソ連による占領を経て、ラトビアは独立を完全に回復しました。そのわずか2週間後の9月6日、日本は独立を回復したラトビアを正式に承認しました。同日、🇯🇵の中山太郎外務大臣は、ラトビアのヤーニス・ユルカーンス外務大臣に書簡を送りました。

その中で、🇯🇵政府はラトビアを承認し、できる限り早期に外交関係を樹立する意向を示すとともに、両国の友好と親善を促進したいという思いが記されています。

35年を経た今、ラトビアと日本は、自由、民主主義、法の支配をはじめとする共通の基本的価値によって結ばれた戦略的パートナーです。35年前、この書簡に込められた友好への思いは、今日、私たちが享受する強固なパートナーシップへと発展しています。

また、私たちの歴史が1991年に始まったわけではないことも、同じように大切なことです。

日本は1921年にラトビア共和国を国家承認しました。戦前には両国が外交関係を有し、日本はリーガに公使館を置いていました。その後、1940年、ラトビアはソ連によって占領され、不法に併合されました。1991年、ソ連崩壊を受けてラトビアが新たな国家として誕生したのではありません。1918年に成立したラトビア共和国の独立を回復したのです。

今日、私たちは、35年前に日本がラトビアに示してくれた友情と支援を、感謝とともに振り返ります。🇱🇻🇯🇵

🇱🇻🇯🇵 35 years ago today, Japan formally recognized Latvia following the restoration of our independence.

On 21 August 1991, after more than five decades of Soviet occupation, Latvia fully restored its independence. Just two weeks later, on 6 September, Japan recognized Latvia's independence. On that same day, 🇯🇵Japan's Foreign Minister Taro Nakayama sent a letter to Latvian Foreign Minister Jānis Jurkāns.

In it, the Government of 🇯🇵Japan recognized Latvia's independence, expressed its intention to establish diplomatic relations as soon as possible, and conveyed Japan's sincere desire to promote friendship and goodwill between our two countries.

35 years later, Latvia and Japan are Strategic Partners, united by shared fundamental values including freedom, democracy and the rule of law. The desire for friendship expressed in this letter 35 years ago has grown into the strong partnership we enjoy today.

It is equally important to remember that our history did not begin in 1991.

Japan recognized the Republic of Latvia in 1921. Before World War II, the two countries had diplomatic relations, and Japan had a diplomatic mission in Rīga. Latvia was subsequently occupied by the Soviet Union in 1940 and illegally annexed.

In 1991, Latvia did not emerge as a new state following the collapse of the Soviet Union. We restored the independence of the Republic of Latvia established in 1918.

Today, we remember with gratitude the friendship and support Japan showed Latvia 35 years ago. 🇱🇻🇯🇵

And we look forward to the next 35 years.

カスパルス・クルムホルツ次期駐日ラトビア大使は、自民党の山田基靖衆議院議員とラトビアと日本の協力について、幅広く意見交換を行いました。

欧州・大西洋とインド太平洋の安全保障がますます密接につながっているとの認識を共有し、ロシアによる欧州での破壊工作を含むハイブリッドな脅威や、ルールに基づく国際秩序を守るという両国共通の戦略的利益について議論しました。

また、ラトビアと日本の戦略的パートナーシップをさらに具体的な協力につなげていくため、安全保障をはじめとする今後の協力の可能性についても話し合いました。

山田議員はラトビアとの関係を担当し、また日本・ラトビア友好議員連盟のメンバーとして、両国関係の発展に重要な役割を担ってくださっています。

🇱🇻🇯🇵 Taking the Latvia Japan Strategic Partnership forward

Ambassador-designate of Latvia to Japan Kaspars Krumholcs met with Member of the House of Representatives Motoyasu Yamada of the Liberal Democratic Party for a wide ranging and open exchange on Latvia Japan cooperation.

The discussion highlighted the growing interconnectedness of Euro Atlantic and Indo Pacific security. They exchanged views on Russia’s hybrid threats, including acts of sabotage in Europe, as well as Latvia and Japan’s shared strategic interest in upholding the rules based international order.

The meeting also explored opportunities to translate the Latvia Japan Strategic Partnership into further concrete cooperation, including in the field of security.

Mr Yamada plays an important role in advancing relations with Latvia and is also a member of the Japan-Latvia Parliamentary Friendship Association.
