Sanjo's Hanashobu (Japanese iris) Festival is currently ongoing at Shirasagi Forest Park (しらさぎ森林公園) until June 22.

During the day you can enjoy the flowers' vivid colours, while at nighttime you'll be greeted by fireflies and a sense of mystique.

Sanjo City has begun accepting applications for students to participate in this year's "Manabi-no-Marche".

This event is for grade 5 ("shou 5") to grade 9 ("chuu 3") students attending school in Sanjo.

Manabi-no-Marche is aimed both at students who want to become more comfortable with the material they're learning at school (the "step-up class") and at students who want to expand their knowledge beyond what they're already learning (the "jump-up class").

One of the things that makes Sanjo a great place to live is that it is an outdoor city - it has abundant nature and you can enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities there.

One must-visit location in Sanjo is Ohtani Dam, which doubles as an integral piece of infrastructure and a beautiful sightseeing spot.

In the below video, Sanjo's Coordinator for International Relations attended a kayaking event there. Check it out, and put Ohtani Dam on your list of places to visit in 2025!

The timetable for the "Gurutto-San" bus loop for the new fiscal year is available on the city's website.

With one flat fare regardless of your destination, the fare is 80 yen for children, 100 yen for junior high and high school students, and 150 yen for adults.

Interested in an authentic Vietnamese food and cultural experience right here in Sanjo?

On April 20, Vietnamese exchange students will introduce Vietnamese culture and then teach participants how to make a savory crepe-like dish and a sweet coconut and bean-based dessert.

The event is from 10 am to 2 pm at Soleil Sanjo (ソレイユ三条) and costs 1,500 yen per person. Please register by April 15th!
