A fantastic firefly tour by the sea

Uraja - A major summer festival that colors Okayama

Uraja, the largest festival in Okayama Prefecture, will take place on Saturday, August 22rd and Sunday, 23th! It is a festival themed around the ancient Momotaro legend, which has been passed down in Okayama. Dancers dressed in Ura (ogre) costumes treat spectators to beautiful performances. Audiences also join in "Dance in All", enveloping the whole town in the fun mood of the Uraja festival.

Himebotaru, fireflies around Rashomon

Rashomon is a massive stone arch approximately 40 meters high, formed when the ceiling of a cave that once lay underground collapsed, leaving only a portion of it intact. The low-temperature and humid air blowing from the cave entrance makes the area cool even in summer. In early July, visitors are treated to fireflies (himebotaru) along the pathway from the parking lot to Rashomon.

Oto, a 100-year-old traditional Japanese inn

Surrounded by a landscape of terraced rice paddies, Oto accepts reservations for one group or a single family per stay. Guests are treated to a relaxing stay immersed in seasonal nature. Itto no Yado seppa - Stay in Osafune, a Mecca for Japanese swords!

This special inn in Osafune offers guests a close-up experience with Japanese swords. Osafune is famous as the center of Japanese sword culture, traditions that have been passed down since the Kamakura period (1185-1333). The inn exhibits traditional samurai swords and swords designed for personal protection, and offers guests the opportunity to wear a Hakama (traditional clothing) and participate in a mock sword fight as well as events that highlight Japanese sword culture.

Experience a traditional tea ceremony at Bizen City Museum of Art!

This museum opened in July 2025. The "Tsukigama" tea ceremony takes place once a month at the museum. Featuring beautiful Bizen tea bowls and delicious seasonal sweets, it’s a wonderful introduction to this traditional Japanese art; and its easy access 1 minute from JR Imbe Station by foot makes it even more popular among visitors from abroad.
