【Japan-U.S. Marksmanship Competition】
15th Brigade, JGSDF, hosted the Japan-U.S. Marksmanship Competition as a unit exchange event from Feb.24 to Feb.26 at the Central Training Area.
The purpose of this competition is to improve combat shooting capability for squads, and strengthen relationships with the U.S. Forces in Okinawa.
Selected members from each unit composed as a squad demonstrated their shooting capabilities. This year, 15th Reconnaissance Unit won 1st place in Unit section. In the squad section, 2nd Company, 51st Infantry Regiment won 1st place in Japan-U.S. competition.
In addition, Yonaguni Coast Observation, 3rd Marine Division with the Ⅲ MEF, 1st Special Force Group from the U.S. Army participated in this competition as unit exchange event.
Sergeant First Class Mitsuaki Fukushima, a squad leader, the winner of squad section, 2nd Company, 51st Infantry Regiment said, “I’m glad that my squad won the 1st prize. My squad has been practicing a lot to win in this competition. We did our best. Unfortunately, I was not be able to observe the shooting as a participants from U.S. Forces because of COVID-19. I hope that I would like to see their shooting skill next year.”
15th Brigade will continue to develop our unit skills and strengthen relationships with the U.S. Forces in Okinawa.

【A study of radio communication system between 15th Brigade and III MEF】

On Feb. 16, 15th Brigade conducted a study of radio communication system with 7th Communications Battalion and Marine Wing Communications Squadron 18, III MEF on Camp Naha.
The study of the session aimed to learn how to operate JGSDF and USMC radio using a connecting device. In addition, during this event, members of 15th Brigade and Marines studied the capabilities of radio devices.
15th Brigade continues to learn knowledge and skills from the Marines and continue to strengthen the relationships with U.S. Forces in Okinawa through numerous learning opportunities.

Happy Birthday to the JGSDF15th Brigade! Before the Thanksgiving weekend, BGen Kyle Ellison, Commanding General of 3D MEB, met with Maj. Gen. Sato, JGSDF 15th Brigade Commanding General, for an office call just before the occasion of 15th Brigade’s 10th anniversary! Relationships like those between 3D MEB and our Japanese counterparts on island are key to maintaining the US-Japan alliance and a ! U.S. Marine Corps U.S. Indo-Pacific Command III MEF Marines

【Maj.Gen. Sato, CG, 15th Brigade, had an office call with BGen. Bowers, CG, MCIPAC】

On Nov.2, 2020, Maj.Gen. Makoto Sato, Commanding General of 15th Brigade had an office call with BGen. William J. Bowers, Commanding General of MCIPAC. During this office call, they discussed how to improve close corporation between 15th Brigade and MCIPAC and they shared their current activities.
In addition, MCIPAC has have a close relationship with 15th Brigade. To show appreciate to MCIPAC, CG, 15th Brigade gave the Brigade 10th Anniversary's plaque to CG, MCIPAC.
15th Brigade continues to develop strong relationship with U.S. Forces in Okinawa.

On Oct.29, 2020, 15th Brigade conducted a meical evacuation training with the Marines on MCAS Futenma. The purpose of this study is to learn how to operate medical evacuation(MEDEVAC) and casual evacuation(CASEVAC) using by JGSDF gears with MV-22 with Marines assistance.
In addition, members of 15th Logistics Unit and Marines from MCAS Futenma studied how to conduct MEDEVAC with each other. Through this study, they deep relationship.
15th Brigade continues to develop corporation with U.S. Forces in Okinawa.

【WO Kuba, CSM of 15th Brigade had an office call with Ⅲ MEF Seargeant Major, Sgt.Maj. Woods and CMDCM Moore】

　WO Yoshihiko Kuba, CSM of 15th Brigade, had an office call with Ⅲ MEF Sergeant Major, Sgt.Maj. Michael Woods and CMDCM Christopher Moore on Sep. 29 at Camp Naha.
　During an office call, they discussed how to develop and strengthen relationships between 15th Brigade NCO and Ⅲ MEF NCO.
　15th Brigade will continue to coordinate and develop strong bonds with Ⅲ MEF.

【Announcement of 15th Brigade 10th anniversary and Camp Naha 48th anniversary's event cancellation】

15th Brigade decides 15th Brigade 10th anniversary and Camp Naha 48th anniversary's event cancellation in order to prevent COVID-19.

【Col. Sakamoto, commander of 15th Helicopter Unit, gives an appreciation letter and an award to Lt.Col. Gibbons, deputy commander of MAG-36】

　On Aug. 28, at MCAS Futenma, Col. Takahiro Sakamoto, commander of 15th Helicopter Unit, 15th Brigade, gave an appreciation letter and an award to Lt.Col. Peter Gibbons, deputy commander of MAG-36. Gibbons contributed by developing relationships between both units, and strengthened relationships as counterparts.
In addition, Sakamoto went to MCAS Futenma headquarters to see Col. Henry Dolberry, commander of MCAS Futenma to discuss the importance of bond of relationships between Japan-U.S.
15th Brigade continues to strengthen of the bilateral relationships and develop our daily tasks.
