【Japan-U.S. Marksmanship Competition】
15th Brigade, JGSDF, hosted the Japan-U.S. Marksmanship Competition as a unit exchange event from Feb.24 to Feb.26 at the Central Training Area.
The purpose of this competition is to improve combat shooting capability for squads, and strengthen relationships with the U.S. Forces in Okinawa.
Selected members from each unit composed as a squad demonstrated their shooting capabilities. This year, 15th Reconnaissance Unit won 1st place in Unit section. In the squad section, 2nd Company, 51st Infantry Regiment won 1st place in Japan-U.S. competition.
In addition, Yonaguni Coast Observation, 3rd Marine Division with the Ⅲ MEF, 1st Special Force Group from the U.S. Army participated in this competition as unit exchange event.
Sergeant First Class Mitsuaki Fukushima, a squad leader, the winner of squad section, 2nd Company, 51st Infantry Regiment said, “I’m glad that my squad won the 1st prize. My squad has been practicing a lot to win in this competition. We did our best. Unfortunately, I was not be able to observe the shooting as a participants from U.S. Forces because of COVID-19. I hope that I would like to see their shooting skill next year.”
15th Brigade will continue to develop our unit skills and strengthen relationships with the U.S. Forces in Okinawa.
