⛰️⛰️⛰️ 「スリーマウンテン・プロジェクト」の発足とスイス・軽井沢の友好を祝う

🎺 8月31日、軽井沢にて「スリーマウンテン・プロジェクト2026」の発足を記念する乾杯コンサートとレセプションが開催されました。軽井沢大賀ホールでは、トランペット奏者ラインホルト・フリードリヒ氏らによるコンサートが行われ、その後、旧軽井沢ホテル音羽ノ森でロジェ・ドゥバッハ駐日スイス大使主催のレセプションが開催されました。

🎵「スリーマウンテン・プロジェクト」は、元ルツェルン音楽祭芸術監督のミヒャエル・ヘフリガー氏をアーティスティック・アドヴァイザーとして、草津夏期国際音楽アカデミー＆フェスティヴァル / Kusatsu Academy & Festival が展開する新たな音楽企画です。草津の「白根」、高崎の「榛名」、軽井沢の「浅間」という三名山を音楽でつなぎ、地域を越えた文化交流を促進するとともに、長期的な協力や新たな創造的の機会を創出することを目指しています。

🇨🇭🇯🇵 レセプションには約80名が集い、草津町長の宮崎公雄氏、軽井沢町長の土屋三千夫氏、アーティスティック・アドヴァイザーのミヒャエル・ヘフリガー氏をはじめ、軽井沢の地域関係者、アーティスト、パートナーなどが出席しました。日本スイス協会（JSS）の協力のもと、本イニシアチブの発足とスイスと日本の友情関係を祝いました。

⛰️⛰️⛰️ Celebrating the launch of the Three Mountains Project and the Switzerland – Karuizawa friendship

🎺 On August 31, the launch of the Three Mountains Project 2026 was celebrated in Karuizawa with a “Kanpai” concert and reception. The concert at Karuizawa Ohga Hall featured trumpeter Reinhold Friedrich and other musicians, followed by a reception hosted by Ambassador Roger Dubach at Hotel Otowa no Mori.

🎵 The Three Mountains Project is a new musical initiative of the Kusatsu International Summer Music Academy & Festival, with Michael Haefliger, former director of Lucerne Festival in Switzerdland, serving as Artistic Advisor. Connecting three iconic mountains, Shirane in Kusatsu, Haruna in Takasaki and Asama in Karuizawa, through music, the project aims to foster cultural exchange across the region and create new opportunities for long-term collaboration and creativity.

🇨🇭🇯🇵The reception brought together around 80 guests, including Mayor Kimio Miyazaki of Kusatsu, Mayor Michio Tsuchida of Karuizawa, Artistic Advisor Michael Haefliger, as well as prominent members of the Karuizawa community, artists, partners and other guests. With the support of the Japan-Swiss Society (JSS), the gathering celebrated the launch of the initiative and the friendship between Switzerland and Japan.

8月26日「 International Dog Day」にちなみ、スイス流・犬との暮らし方をご紹介します 🐶🇨🇭

📍 マイクロチップ＆データベース登録義務
スイスでは全ての犬にマイクロチップ装着と全国データベース「AMICUS」への登録が義務付けられています。迷子や事故、飼い主変更の際も迅速に対応できる仕組みです。

💶 「犬税」が存在する？
州や地方自治体によっては、毎年「犬税（Dog Tax）」の納付が必要です。たとえばジュネーヴ州では、AMICUSの登録情報に基づいて税額が算出されます。

🏔️ スイス生まれの犬種は9種類
セント・バーナードやバーニーズ・マウンテン・ドッグが有名ですが、国際畜犬連盟（FCI）に公認されているスイス原産の犬種は、実は全部で9種類も存在します。

🧹 緑の箱「ROBIDOG」の発祥地
スイスの街中や公園でよく見かける緑色の犬の落とし物回収箱「ROBIDOG（ロビドッグ）」。実は1981年にスイスで発明され、街の美化に大きく貢献しています。

To mark International Dog Day on 26 August, here is a look at dogs, the Swiss way 🐶🇨🇭

📍 Mandatory Microchipping & National Database
In Switzerland, every dog must be microchipped and registered in the national "AMICUS" database. This system allows for swift action in cases of lost pets, accidents, or changes in ownership.

💶 Annual Dog Tax
Depending on the canton or municipality, dog owners are required to pay an annual dog tax. In Geneva, for instance, the tax amount is calculated using the information registered in AMICUS.

🏔️ Nine Native Swiss Dog Breeds
While the Saint Bernard and the Bernese Mountain Dog are world-famous, nine dog breeds originating from Switzerland are officially recognized by the FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale).

🧹 Birthplace of "ROBIDOG"
The green dog waste disposal boxes commonly seen in Swiss towns and parks, known as "ROBIDOG," were actually invented in Switzerland in 1981, playing a major role in keeping public spaces clean.

「WATCH.SWISS」展にご来場いただいたみなさま、ありがとうございます⌚️🇨🇭

日本橋三越本店の本館1階メインホールにて開催された体験型エキシビション「WATCH.SWISS」展（8月5日～18日）は、大盛況のうちに閉幕しました。
スイス時計協会FH主催、在日スイス大使館後援のもと実現したした本展では、4世紀にわたるスイスの時計作りの歴史、クラフツマンシップ、そして豊かな文化を多角的に紹介しました。

会場には木製シャレーを「ラ・ショー・ド・フォンの時計工房」に見立てて設置し、本格的な時計工具を展示。さらに時計ｘ文化の融合として、吹き抜け空間に響き渡るアルプホルン演奏、スイスワインやコーヒーを楽しめる「Watch.swiss Café & Library」、塗り絵コーナー、Tanochi氏によるライブペインティング、スイス政府観光局 Switzerland のパオロ・ルナルディ日本支局長とスイス時計協会FHの中野綾子東京センター所長によるトークショーなど、スイスの魅力を五感で体感できる特別な空間となりました 🎶🎨☕️🍷

The interactive "WATCH.SWISS" exhibition, held from 5 to 18 August in the Main Hall on the 1st floor of Nihombashi Mitsukoshi Main Store, came to a highly successful close.
Organised by the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH and supported by the Embassy of Switzerland in Japan, the exhibition showcased four centuries of Swiss watchmaking history, craftsmanship, and rich culture from multifaceted perspectives.

The venue featured a wooden chalet styled as a watchmaking workshop in La Chaux-de-Fonds, displaying authentic watchmakers' tools. Fusing watchmaking with culture, the event created a sensory experience of Switzerland's charm—featuring alphorn performances echoing through the atrium, the "Watch.swiss Café & Library" offering Swiss wine and coffee, a colouring corner, live painting by artist Tanochi, and a talk show with Paolo Lunardi, Japan Director of Switzerland Tourism, and Ayako Nakano, Head of the FH Tokyo Center 🎶🎨☕️🍷

Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, as well as all the partners and stakeholders who helped bring this remarkable exhibition to life 🤝✨

スイスにある、世界最長の階段🇨🇭

ベルナーオーバーラント地方にあるニーゼン鉄道（ケーブルカー）の線路沿いに設置されたこの階段は、全11,674段。「スイスのピラミッド」の愛称で知られるニーゼンの山頂へと、約3.4kmにわたって約1,700mの標高差を登る、ギネス世界記録に認定された世界最長の階段です ⛰️
しかし、実はこの階段、ハイカーのために作られたものではありません。ケーブルカーの保守作業や緊急時のアクセス専用とし設置されているため、普段は一般の立ち入りが固く禁止されています。

ただし、例外も👀
年に一度開催される伝統の階段のぼりレース「ニーゼン・ステアウェイ・ラン（Niesen Stairway-Run）」では、人数限定で参加者に開放されます。また大会の日以外にも、しっかりとトレーニングを積んだランナー向けに挑戦できる公式オプションが用意されています。

The world's longest staircase is in Switzerland 🇨🇭

Running alongside the tracks of the Niesenbahn funicular in the Bernese Oberland, this Guinness World Record-holding staircase boasts a staggering 11,674 steps. It climbs nearly 1,700 metres over a distance of roughly 3.4 kilometres straight to the summit of the Niesen, fondly known as the "Swiss pyramid" ⛰️
Here is the twist: it was not actually built for hikers. As it exists solely for funicular maintenance and emergency access, general public access is strictly prohibited.

There are, however, a few exceptions 👀
Once a year, the traditional "Niesen Stairway-Run" opens the steps to a limited number of participants. Outside race day, special official options are also available for well-trained runners looking to take on the challenge.

削ると花びらのようになるチーズをご存じですか？🌸🧀

実はこの「テット・ド・モワンヌ（Tête de Moine）」は、歴史資料によるとかつて税金や借金の支払いにも使われていたそう。800年以上前、スイス・ジュラ地方のベルレイ修道院の修道士たちによって生みだされたこのチーズは、その高い品質とおいしさから実質的な通貨のような価値を持っていました。単なる食品を超えた存在であり、地域社会で認められた「価値の保存手段」として使われていたことがうかがえます。
専用の削り器（ジロール）でひらひらと削ると、まるで薔薇の花びらのような形になり、食卓を華やかに彩ります。
テット・ド・モワンヌ AOP（原産地呼称保護）は、職人技、品質、伝統が数世代にわたって価値を生み出し続けることを象徴する存在であり、スイスを代表する逸品として愛されています。

Did you know there is a cheese that looks like delicate flower petals when scraped? 🌸🧀

According to historical records, "Tête de Moine" was once even used to pay taxes and debts. Created over 800 years ago by monks at Bellelay Abbey in the Swiss Jura region, the cheese's outstanding quality and flavor gave it a practical value similar to currency. It was much more than a food product; it served as a recognized store of value within the community.

🌸 新しい仲間をご紹介します――領事部長として先月着任したイネス・ハムルーニさんです。

2021年よりスイス連邦外務省（FDFA）で領事専門官としてイタリア（ミラノ）やドミニカ共和国（サントドミンゴ）に勤務し、その後チャド（ンジャメナ）にて領事・財務・マネジメントの専門研修を修了。豊かな国際経験を持ち、6つの言語を操るイネスは、チーム・スイスの一員となり、東京で新生活を送ることを楽しみにしています。

とても活動的でスポーツが大好きな彼女は、現在日本の武道に興味津々だそう。日本の文化に親しむことにも意欲的で、これから国内のさまざまな場所を訪れたいそうです。

🌸 Welcome to Inès――Meet Inès Hamrouni, who joined our Embassy last month as the new Head of the Consular Section.

Inès has been working with the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) as a Consular Specialist since 2021, serving in Italy (Milan) and the Dominican Republic (Santo Domingo), before completing her specialist training in consular affairs, finance, and management in Chad (N’Djamena). With her rich international background and fluency in six languages, Inès is thrilled to join Team Switzerland and start her new life in Tokyo.

Very active and fond of sports, she is currently fascinated by Japanese martial arts. She is also eager to immerse herself in the local culture and is looking forward to visiting many different places across Japan.

「ジュネーブAIサミット（Geneva AI Summit）」が、2027年6月21日〜22日にスイスのジュネーブで開催されます 📍

政府、産業界、学術界、市民社会が一堂に会する本サミットは、活気あるデジタルエコシステムを有し、かつデジタル・ガバナンスの重要な拠点であるジュネーブを舞台に、AI（人工知能）の未来に関するさまざまな立場の人々による真に開かれた対話を促進します。

スイス連邦参事会は「イノベーションと信頼の架け橋（Bridging Innovation and Trust）」を包括的なテーマに掲げ、ジュネーブAIサミット2027の戦略的方針を定めました。重点を置くのは、以下2つの優先事項です：
🔹 すべての人のための繁栄と進歩の原動力としてのAI
🔹 信頼性が高く、責任があり、かつ安全なAI利用の促進

Geneva AI Summit 2027: Bridging Innovation and Trust 🇨🇭

The Geneva AI Summit will take place in Geneva on 21-22 June 2027 📍

Bringing together governments, industry, academia and civil society, the summit will foster a genuinely multistakeholder dialogue on the future of AI in Geneva — home to a vibrant digital ecosystem and a hub for digital governance.

The Federal Council has set out the strategic direction for the Geneva AI Summit 2027 under the overarching theme “Bridging Innovation and Trust”, focusing on two key priorities:
🔹 AI as a driver of prosperity and progress for all
🔹 Fostering trustworthy, responsible, and safe use of AI
The aim is to develop partnerships, initiatives, and joint approaches that will have a lasting impact beyond the summit.

Fabiola Gianotti, former Director-General of CERN, has been appointed as Delegate of the Federal Council. With her exceptional international leadership and scientific background, she will guide the summit’s mission to foster these partnerships and drive global AI governance.
