3/21(金)日本航空による成田ーパラオ間の直行チャーター便が5年ぶりに運航いたしました。同日、成田空港で開催された出発式にてアデルバイ大使はコロナの影響で休止が続いていた日本航空のチャーター便が再開した事への感謝と喜びの気持ちを挨拶で述べました。

3/10(月)ウィップス大統領一行は日本・パラオ友好議員連盟と会談を行い、ガッパン漁港の新設や日本からの定期直行便運航に関して現在の状況を共有しました。

From July 16th to 18th, Japan hosted the 10th Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM10) in Tokyo, co-chaired by H.E. Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan.

President Surangel Whipps Jr. joined fellow leaders from the Pacific in Tokyo to strengthen the bonds between Japan and the Pacific Island nations. Key discussions focused on maintaining peace and security in the region, fostering political leadership and cooperation, advancing economic and human resource development, enhancing technology and connectivity, and addressing environmental impacts, including climate change. The meeting succeeded in promoting a sustainable future for the Pacific Islands and the Pacific’s overall relationship with Japan.

President Whipps emphasized the importance of trust in Japan and together, they reaffirmed the strong partnership and adopted the "PALM 10 Leaders' Declaration" and "Joint Action Plan" to tackle the common challenges for a more prosperous sustainable future that will be mutually beneficial to the region.

The Republic of Palau and the United States will co-host the 7th Our Ocean Conference on April 13-14, 2022.

The Conference will be a key moment for countries, civil society, and industry to commit to concrete and significant actions to protect the ocean. Throughout the six previous conferences, participants have made more than 1,400 commitments worth approximately $91.4 billion and protected at least five million square miles of ocean.
