Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the UN Secretary-General António Guterres in New York.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Nations, as well as regional and international developments.

The parties exchanged views on regional peace and security, sustainable development, climate action, and ongoing efforts to strengthen the effectiveness of the UN-centered international system.

Minister Bayramov also briefed the Secretary-General on developments in the South Caucasus, including post-conflict normalization efforts and the regional peace agenda.

Azerbaijan’s active engagement within the United Nations framework and continued cooperation on issues of mutual interest was highlighted.

The event was attended by high-ranking representatives of the Government and Parliament of Japan, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of media organizations, members of the Azerbaijani diaspora, and other distinguished guests. During the reception, the development of friendship and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Japan in the fields of energy, economy, culture, and parliamentary diplomacy was especially emphasized.

The opening ceremony of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum was held in Baku.

H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, delivered a speech at the ceremony.

The event was attended by heads of state and government, senior officials, and representatives of international organizations, highlighting the global significance of WUF13 hosted by Azerbaijan.
