Bathrooms available on the way down - use the concrete pathway back to central park and drop by Noninji Temple if you have time :-)

Stage 3a - From here there are two ways to the top... the 200-step challenge or the slightly longer and easier route (left path), that also takes you past some bathrooms in case you need to use one. I recommend the 'step challenge' because it is a bit more direct, and not so bad if you take your time (I used these steps as training for my Mt Fuji climb a few year back - helped big time for the Fuji descent :-)

Stage 2: After reaching the first Tenranzan signpost, sit and relax on the convenient log benches to take in the cool clear air. Just about 400m to the summit (as the crow flies) so not far now... Just a few meters past the benches look for a little path forking off to the left - this allows you to pay respects to one of the many Kami you will find on and around Tenranzan - continue along this path to rejoin the main pathway a few meters ahead. Then it's just short walk, with a bit of a decline (so be careful if the ground is wet) to the next Tenranzan sign and your first big decision of this walk 🥇😀☀️👍🏻

Stage 1: Take a pleasant walk along a gently sloping nature trail on the alternate, and much more interesting path to the top of Tenranzan - in about the same time it takes to climb the main, concrete route to the top 🥇👍🏻☀️

Getting started - The Tenranzan Nature Trail: Just a five minute walk from Hanno Central Park - a nature filled walk on a much more child friendly trail than the usual one which is extremely steep. This route takes the same amount of time to reach the summit and is a much more pleasant walk up Tenranzan 🥇👍🏻☀️
