The national census will drop in late September - early October! A reminder that all households, including foreigner residents, are required to complete it.

Notice: Upcoming National Survey
Japan will be conducting a national survey that investigates the households of all residents of Japan, including foreign residents. The survey form will be delivered to everyone’s homes between September 20th and 30th.
When it arrives, visit the survey website with a smartphone or computer, and input your login ID and access key to verify your identity. You may also write your answers on the survey form, put it in an envelope and mail it back if you would prefer.
This is a legally established survey, and all households (including foreign ones) must respond. The information collected will be use to improve the lives of everyone.
Your responses will not be used by the immigration bureau or the police. For more information, please visit the site below. Information is available in English, Mandarin, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

Hi everyone!

Hamada is running another tax reimbursement scheme for the Reiwa 7 financial year.
There are three envelopes that you might receive: pink, yellow, and orange.
All residents who are registered as Hamada residents on January 1st, 2025, should be eligible. However, to further qualify, they must meet all of each scheme’s respective requirements.

Follow below for details on eligibility!

Pink:
--Set possible taxable amount exceeds your Reiwa 6 tax amounts
--The deficit reimbursement for adjustment amount is greater than the initial adjustment amount

Yellow:
--As above, but to further qualify, the tax office will look at individual tax contributions

Orange:
--As above, but with the further requirements of: 1) You must not be considered a dependent household member under the tax system, and 2) You do not qualify for low-income assistance

Registering your bank details can be done digitally, using the MyNumber platform- see the sheet of paper with 電子申請 for details!

If you wish to provide City Hall with your bank details by paper, use the attached coloured form. There is a special section for residents with an account with JP Post- see the section marked ゆうちょ銀行.

Inquiries and paper forms can be dropped off at the special 4th floor office until August. See the office marked 不足額給付. Any inquiries after August should be directed to the 2nd floor tax office.

Please submit all paperwork by September 30th, Tuesday!

Hi everyone!

Hamada City will be running another Grants program! To receive money back from your taxes, you will need to be a resident that fulfils the following conditions:

1- You have entered Japan well before January 2nd, 2024.
2- You are registered as a resident of Hamada as of December 13th, 2024.
3- Your residential tax was ¥0 ("Exempt") in the Reiwa 6 financial year.

If you fulfilled all three conditions, you will either:

A) You will receive a "Notice of Grants" (支給のお知らせ) in your mail.
This will have your information, and the bank account details that was registered in the previous initiative. It will tell you that you are eligible, and that you will receive the grant.
If you do not wish to receive the grant, or change your bank acount details, please contact City Hall and complete the necessary forms, as directed.
B) You will receive a "Notice of Confirmation of Details" (支給要件確認書) in your mail.
Please complete the form's required fields. You may receive this if you need to register or update your bank account details.

Those who received A) will be rebated around early March.
Those who received B) will be rebated around mid-March.

Hi everyone

With visa renewal just around the corner for some of you, please be aware of potential scams online. Be on the lookout for emails and phone calls claiming to be from Japan Immigration, threatening fines if you don't comply, and any other forms of threats.
Likewise, be careful of links being sent to your phone or mail address, as there are websites impersonating official government sources.

Otherwise, a safe and happy Christmas and holiday season, a Happy New Year, and see you all in 2025!

Hi everyone!

Hamada's high school students is running is running Iwami Kagura- in English! This is a collaborative project between Hamada High and the Commercial High School, and they will be presenting Ebisu and Hachiman.
Afterwards, there will be meals and drinks available!

It will be this Saturday, the 9th of November, at Shimane Toyopet Hamada Branch (Hamada-shi Shimoko-cho 890).
