MSG’s Professional of the Week is A1C Charmaine Joy Guzman, an Individual Protective Equipment Technician from the 374th Logistics Readiness Squadron. A1C Guzman assists a 13-member team in managing Chemical Warfare Defense Equipment worth $30M, 1,800 small arms maintained within the installation’s largest armory, two warehouses and one off-site location to equip members to meet requirements in a high-threat environment. In addition, Joy executes a 150,000 shelf-life inventory program while inspecting and repairing 6,000 gas masks for the 374 AW and tenant units. She aided in optimizing mobility support by scheduling 400 warfighters and partnering with a 5-man team to ready 16.4K lifesaving gear for issue, accelerating the deployment of 64 service members. Finally, as event coordinator for the squadron booster club, she’s streamlined four events for the facilitation of camaraderie among a 515 bilateral team ensuring the successful transition of overseas living for over 30 first term airmen. MSG's Professional of the Week is A1C Paul Thurman-Kibler, a Structural Journeyman from the 374th Civil Engineer Squadron. A1C Thurman-Kibler performs routine and preventive maintenance for $12.4B in infrastructure and manages the section's safety program, conducting inspections on fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, and fall protection, while also providing weekly briefings for 62 personnel. Additionally, he was crucial to storm recovery operations, promptly reacting to 9 emergencies in the wake of a flash flood that devastated Yokota Air Base. A1C Thurman-Kibler went above and beyond, relocating food goods and merchandise at the West-side Shoppette to prevent water damage to AAFES stock and also mitigated flooding at the dining facility, ensuring continued operations to serve 1.4K unaccompanied housing residents. Finally, he was a key member on a short tasked construction project to create 24 shoring components necessary to transport two Mobile Aircraft Arresting Systems by C130. His expertise ensured logistical compliance after a regulation change, and the recovery of two vital assets following their use in 3 multinational exercises. MSG’s Professional of the Week is SrA Zaden Stephens, a Systems Control Technician from the 374th Communication Squadron. SrA Stephens accomplishes administration, record keeping, installation, and preventative maintenance inspections for 700 long-haul circuits across 5 Tech Control Facilities to deliver C4ISR services to 375K warfighters within the Pacific region. Additionally, he reviews and analyzes system, trunk, circuit, and equipment performance and assists in troubleshooting, isolating, repairing, and correcting faults in cooperation with other facilities, customer agencies, maintenance organizations, and commercial vendors. Zaden led a 4-member team in troubleshooting with DISA to resolve a 6-day outage. He isolated the hardware fault, restoring VPN services for Yokota AB’s High Frequency Global Communications System (HFGCS) Scope Command’s traffic in support of the USN’s 7th fleets NC3 and Air Force One’s High Frequency communication needs throughout the PACAF area of responsibility. Finally, he volunteered seven hours at the MFRC and relocated the installation’s loan locker. This effort supported the inbound members of Yokota AB with necessities while awaiting their household goods. Way to go SrA Stephens!

Our Professional of the Week is MSgt Jessica Mitchum, Section Chief, Career Development, from the 374th Force Support Squadron. MSgt Mitchum advises 374 AW, 5 AF, USFJ, and 32 tenant units on Retentions, Retirements, Separations, Assignments, and Promotions programs. Additionally, she leads 10 military, 1 civilian, & 6 Japanese Nationals within 2 sections managing 249 personnel programs valued at $80 million. MSgt Mitchum demonstrated exceptional teamwork and leadership as the FSS' Wing Inspection Team Lead and was a vital asset during planning and ex*****on phases of the MARE and BEVERLY MORNING exercises. Her leadership and guidance were crucial to managing multiple last minute BEVERLY MORNING schedule changes to successfully coordinate the ex*****on of mandatory briefings by our mission partners to prepare deploying Airman in every domain to include legally, spiritually, medically, and administratively. MSG’s Professional of the Week is Ms. Shoko Toda, a Contract Specialist from the 374th Communications Squadron. Ms. Toda’s team is responsible for administration and award of all Civil Engineer Squadron service contract requirements at Yokota Air Base and its Geographically Separated Units, awarding and administering 39 contracts with a total portfolio value of $143M. Furthermore, in conjunction with administering the existing $21M YAB integrated solid waste management contract, she conducted market research with local sources to gauge industry capability in Wing level courses of action to leverage off-base incineration options in the event of failure of on-base incineration capabilities. Finally, as part of administration of the $17M Grounds Maintenance contract, Ms. Toda is supporting the CONS/CES working group to analyze current grounds maintenance processes and develop courses of action to implement better coverage of Multi-Family Housing Grounds maintenance requirements. We’re so proud of you, Ms. Toda! 💰💵🤑

MSG’s Professional of the Week is A1C Nathaniel Moylan, a RF Transmissions Systems Technician from the 374th Communications Squadron. As the training monitor for the work center, A1C Moylan oversees the training plan & tracks progress for 18 military members & 5 local nation civilian employees. He ensures installation & maintenance actions for 1.2K fixed & mobile networked radios, 5 satellite communications terminals, 14 mass alert system sirens & 15 tactical radios providing C2 capabilities for the 374 AW, 5 AF, USFJ & tenant units. Additionally, he responded to a short notice tasker for a SFS Flyaway Security mission, training 20 first responders on the operational use of satellite phones just a day before deployment, ultimately ensuring personnel were equipped to effectively carryout their objectives. Finally, Nathaniel earned his Community College of the Air Force degree in Electronic Systems! He used his new cyber coding skills to innovate a software suite, improving work center efficiency, centralizing technician man-hours with intuitive interface providing user-friendly application. Way to go A1C Moylan!
