IGES and Fukuoka City will introduce the “Fukuoka Method” to Lao PDR!

On April 8, 2026, Fukuoka City and the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) signed a cooperation agreement to improve waste management in Lao PDR, by introducing the “Fukuoka Method.”
Under this agreement, Fukuoka City will dispatch staff to Lao PDR and work with IGES to advance the project.

「福岡方式」がラオスへ！
（公財）地球環境戦略研究機関（IGES）と協力協定を締結しました。

2026年4月8日、（公財）地球環境戦略研究機関（IGES）が取り組む、ラオスへの「福岡方式」初導入プロジェクトを円滑に実施するため、福岡市と IGES で協力協定を締結いたしました。
市は今後、職員をラオスへ派遣し、長年にわたり培ってきた福岡方式の専門的知見を活かして技術的な助言を行うなど、福岡方式の導入に向け IGES とともにプロジェクトを進めてまいります。

Fukuoka Method Introduced to the Republic of Tunisia for the First Time!

The Fukuoka Method, a waste landfill technique jointly developed by Fukuoka City and Fukuoka University, will be introduced to the Republic of Tunisia for the first time.
The Fukuoka Method will be introduced to Tunisia under the framework of the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM), a program under which Japan contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions overseas and shares the benefits of the reduction with other countries.
Five employees of the Tunisian National Agency for Waste Management (ANGED), which is implementing the project, are participating in the practical training of the Fukuoka Method at Seibu (Nakata) Landfill Site in Fukuoka City.

This project is funded by a contribution from the Japanese Ministry of the Environment to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

福岡方式、チュニジア共和国へ初導入！

福岡市生まれのごみ埋立技術「福岡方式」が、チュニジア共和国に初めて導入されます。
海外の温室効果ガスの削減に日本の技術で貢献し、削減の効果を国で分け合うという「二国間クレジット制度（JCM）」の枠組みを使ってチュニジアに導入されるもので、福岡方式を活用した初のJCMプロジェクトとなります。
プロジェクトを実施するチュニジア廃棄物管理公社（ANGED）の職員5名が、福岡市の埋立場で行われる「福岡方式」の実習に参加しました。
