Petra Archaeological Park to Welcome Visitors Again on Friday at 12:00 PM ‼️‼️‼️

The Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) announced that visitors will be welcomed back to Petra Archaeological Park on Friday, March 27, 2026, starting from 12:00 PM.

Commissioner of Petra Archaeological Park and Tourism, Yazan Mahadin, stated that the decision comes alongside the continued field presence of emergency teams, who are closely monitoring conditions in coordination with relevant authorities.

He added that access will be limited to the main trail only.

Mahadin urged visitors to follow all on-site instructions and guidelines, and to stay updated through PDTRA’s official communication channels.

Petra Archaeological Park Closed 🔒to Visitors on Thursday as a Precaution Due to Weather Conditions

The Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) has decided to fully close Petra Archaeological Park to visitors on Thursday, March 26, 2026, as a precautionary measure in light of the prevailing and forecasted weather conditions.

The Commissioner of Petra Archaeological Park and Tourism, Eng. Yazan Mahadin, stated that the closure decision followed close monitoring of weather reports indicating heavy rainfall that may lead to continued flash flooding on Thursday, particularly in low-lying areas and narrow passages within the archaeological site.

President of Albania Visits Petra During Official Trip to Jordan

The President of the Republic of Albania, His Excellency Bajram Begaj, accompanied by the First Lady of Albania, Armando Begaj; Visited the ancient city of Petra on Monday as part of his official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

His Excellency was received upon arrival at the archaeological park by the Chief Commissioner of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority, Eng. Adnan Al-Sawair, along with the Commissioner for the Petra Archaeological Park and Tourism, Eng. Yazan Mahadin.

During the visit, President Begaj was briefed on the outstanding historical landmarks of the Rose City. He and the accompanying delegation received a detailed presentation on Petra’s history and its profound civilizational and human significance as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as one of the world’s leading cultural tourism destinations.

The Albanian President toured the Siq, the Treasury, and several major landmarks, expressing his admiration for Petra’s exceptional heritage, which reflects the greatness of the Nabataean civilization. He also commended the ongoing efforts to preserve and safeguard this global heritage site for future generations.

This visit underscores the strength of bilateral relations between Jordan and Albania and highlights the role of cultural tourism as a bridge for dialogue between peoples and the promotion of mutual understanding. It further reaffirms Petra’s distinguished position on the international tourism map.
