Throughout the past 10 weeks, RIBH MENA & the British Council Jordan have been working together to organise and implement the Design for Impact program.
A group of designers went on a journey to explore new product ideas, production techniques, and collaboration models with local artisans. They then started building their products and businesses, which they finally exhibited last Wednesday as part of Amman Design Week أسبوع عمّان للتصميم.
Design for Impact focuses on inclusive partnerships and mutual learning between designers and artisans. All products designed in the program shed light on local craft and emphasize the value of co-creation. They challenge traditional handicraft markets by introducing new, relevant, and user-centred designs made with impact in mind.
We would like to thank all the partners and contributors who helped bring this program to life: Oasis500 Namliyeh Design Institute Amman Fab Lab Irbid. We would also like to thank all the designers who trusted the process and were open for innovation, collaboration and making change!
