How do framing and perspectives shape societal power relations – and how can more inclusive images be created?
This two-day workshop with Austrian cinematographers Astrid Heubrandtner and Volker Gläser is aimed at 12 cinematographers from the region who want to critically expand their own visual language. Through selected film excerpts, participants will explore different framing and perspectives as a tool for more equitable representation of marginalized social groups. The aim is to sharpen awareness of how cinematography can reinforce societal narratives – but also actively transform them.

PROGRAMME

• Cinematography as a tool for representation and societal change
• Perspective, framing and lighting in relation to power and visibility
• Analyzing film sequences from multiple viewpoints
• Developing an individual visual language with greater social awareness
