To preserve and promote the intellectual, political and philosophical legacy of Michael Manley

To work with the Government and people of Jamaica and any other properly constituted local, regional or international authority in pursuance of the above objective

To make secure and assist in the establishment of documentation on the public life an

d papers of Michael Manley

To develop a public, non-partisan institution which will serve the Jamaican, Caribbean and international publics in gaining knowledge of Michael Manley, his public life, work and intellectual legacy.

Michael Manley is revered for his visionary and courageous leadership which uplifted the masses of the Jamaican people through transformational socio-economic change, and his principled pursuit of a more just and equitable world for the whole of humanity. We honour his memory on the anniversary of his birth. ‘Joshua’ you are forever in our hearts and our journey for a better Jamaica.

On this, the 10th day of December in 1924, our nation was blessed by the birth of a true leader and a man for the people, Michael ‘Joshua’ Manley. Today we celebrate the 96th anniversary of the birth of the second Comrade Leader of the People’s National Party and fourth Prime Minister of Jamaica.

Born to the Rt. Excellent Norman Washington Manley and Edna Manley, he followed in the footsteps of his parents in living a life of service to the Jamaican people and to the world.

Today we celebrate a true visionary who has championed the cause of the working class, showing up as an exemplary Trade Unionist; a defender of women and children through a legacy built on strong social reform that includes the introduction of minimum wage, equal pay for women, paid maternity leave, and free education.

In his own true words, “Any realistic vision of change must be based on the notion of the development of people,” epitomizes the very life he lived in advancing Jamaica and the Jamaican people.

We say salute and ‘nuff respect’ to a real patriot, the people’s champion and world leader- Happy 96th Joshua!
