: Approximately one hundred and fifty-six (156) craft vendors will benefit from the rehabilitation of the Old Fort Craft Market in Montego Bay.

The project, valued at $53.5 million, will create a safer, more accessible environment conducive for vendors and patrons.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Security and Peace, the Hon. Dr. Horace Chang, said that with crime levels declining, modernising the Old Fort Craft Market will improve service quality and provide greater opportunities.

The ceremony was held today (September 3) at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in St James.

: Twenty-five (25) members of the Jamaica Defence Force have successfully completed the Ministry’s Professional Project Management Training Programme (PMP) Preparation Course.

Additionally, twenty-five (25) officers from the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Jamaica Fire Brigade, Department of Correctional Services, and the Royal Anguilla Police Service completed the Introduction to Project Management course through the National Police College of Jamaica’s Diploma in Command, Leadership and Management Programme.

These initiatives underscore the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening project management capabilities across the security sector, equipping professionals with the knowledge and internationally recognised best practices to improve organisational performance and enhance service delivery.

: The overall winners of the LIV GUD Anti-Violence Campaign Inter-Facility Jingle Competition recently completed a two-week summer programme at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts.

As part of the programme, the boys from the Rio Cobre Juvenile Correctional Centre participated in music and visual arts classes designed to support their personal growth, creativity and professional development.

The experience provided an opportunity for the young men to further develop their artistic skills and explore their creative potential beyond the competition.

They are now set to take the next step in their musical journey, with plans to professionally record their winning jingles this month at the Metcalfe Street Secure Juvenile Correctional Centre studio.

On August 10, the LIV GUD Team joined campers at the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) National Police Youth Club Summer Camp at Hopewell High School, sharing messages centred on respect, unity and making positive choices.

By helping young people understand the impact of their actions, the campaign continues to foster a culture where doing the right thing becomes a way of life.

Teaching our children to choose respect and reject violence, lays the foundation for stronger communities.
