Two garbage skips have been donated to the Fisherman’s Beach in St. Ann’s Bay, St. Ann, as part of a multi-agency initiative aimed at strengthening waste management practices and promoting environmental protection.

The project was undertaken by Sandals in partnership with the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) and the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

Jamaicans are being urged to take precautions and reduce their exposure to the Saharan dust plume affecting the island.

Excess exposure to dust particles can have serious health effects, including an increased risk of respiratory illnesses such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), respiratory infections and allergies. The dust may also cause skin and eye irritation and can negatively impact water quality.

Positive changes are on the horizon for Kingston Western.

Prime Minister Dr. the Most Honourable Andrew Holness and Minister of Local Government and Community Development and Member of Parliament for Kingston Western, Honourable Desmond McKenzie, toured communities and key institutions across the constituency, including Denham Town, Tivoli Gardens, Kingston High School, Denham Town High School, Boys Town Primary School, Kingston Public Hospital and Coronation Market.

The visit focused on assessing infrastructure concerns, public health challenges and conditions affecting residents and vendors. Prime Minister Holness reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to working with the relevant agencies to address the issues identified and advance improvements across the constituency.
