The Joint Committee for Tertiary Education, hosted an information session today, for scholarship recipients under the International Culinary Tour Programme.

The venture provides chefs, culinary instructors and culinarians with an educational avenue to keep abreast with current/international trends in the culinary industry and ultimately, to advance their culinary talents.

Each will travel to Liaison College in Canada, or Hocking College in the USA for engagement in trainings: Advance Kitchen Management, Molecular Cuisine, Food & Wine Pairing, Classical Dessert and Cuisine, Vinyard Tour, Product Identification, among other things.

The first group of 45 Jamaicans departed Jamaica in the Summer of 1989 to George Brown College in Toronto and Humber College in Etobicoke, Canada to study Advanced Culinary Techniques. A similar group of approximately 25 Home Economics teachers from MoEYI schools were sent to Seneca College for specialized courses in fashion merchandizing and in the summer of 2014 & 2015, a group of chefs and cooks departed Jamaica for Liaison College in Canada, to study Advanced Culinary Arts, all of whom praised the programme for its depth and relevance.

We applaud each recipient and wish them all the very best on their personal development journey. 🇯🇲
