Aussie Excellence in Venice: Congrats to Mothmama!
Huge congratulations to Australian producer Ashlee Russell, Amanda Browne and all the team at Undertow Content! Their short film, Mothmama, has been selected for the prestigious Orizzonti Shorts Competition at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival!
Out of over 2,500 submissions globally, Mothmama is one of just 13 films chosen to compete - testament to the power of Australian storytelling.
Best of luck to writer/director Jessica Di Costa and the entire cast and crew as they make their world premiere on the Lido! 🦘❤️
The film will be shown on 11 September.

Australia extends its deepest sympathies to those affected by significant flooding in Nepal and Tibet, China.

Australia will provide $5 million in humanitarian assistance to support urgent disaster response and recovery efforts.

With Australia’s support, emergency shelter and critical supplies are being dispatched to affected families and communities impacted most by catastrophic floods in Nepal.

Australia is supporting the Food Programme to deliver rapid assistance to where it is needed most.

On World Humanitarian Day, we honour humanitarian workers around the world who risk everything to help people in crisis.

Humanity depends on humanitarian action.

Last year, 350 aid workers were killed while delivering life-saving assistance to those who need it most.

As signatories to the Declaration for the Protection of Humanitarian Personnel, Mexico, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, the Republic of Türkiye, and Australia (MIKTA) are working to uphold international law, better protect aid workers and strengthen accountability.
