It is headed by a director who oversees all agency functions from DOWEA headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia. DOWEA's schools are divided into three regions; DOWEA Europe; DOWEA Pacific; and DOWEA Americas. Wi

Middle High School students continued their participation in a long-standing exchange program with visits to local partner schools, strengthening cross-cultural connections and real-world learning opportunities.

On March 10, 2026, Aviano Middle School students visited Scuola Media Italo Svevo in Fontanafredda, where they were welcomed by their Italian peers for a full day of immersive activities. Students rotated through classrooms including Italian language, history, music, art, science and technology, engaging in lessons led by host teachers and students. Activities ranged from interactive demonstrations such as magic tricks, karate and origami to collaborative cultural experiences in the school library and playground. The visit concluded with a shared buffet featuring a variety of traditional Italian foods, giving students an opportunity to connect in a relaxed, social setting.

The Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps ( ) program at Middle High School has earned the highest possible rating of “Exceeds Standards” following its Unit Assessment conducted Feb. 23, 2026.
