What does it take for a city to become more climate resilient?

Over the past two and a half years, CICADA4CE has been exploring this question together with five Central European cities: Nichelino, Břeclav, Dubnica nad Váhom, Kranj and Sosnowiec.

From climate risks to local action, from technical knowledge to citizens’ ideas, the project has worked to turn climate adaptation into something concrete, local and shared.

Now, as CICADA4CE approaches its final stage, we are looking not only at what we have done, but also at what will remain after the project ends.

- What solutions have emerged?
- What have we learned together?
- And how can these experiences inspire other cities?

Over the coming weeks, we will share some of the stories, results and lessons from the CICADA4CE journey.

The project is coming to an end. The climate adaptation journey continues.

♻️ Exploring the future of waste management in Burgas!

From 16 to 18 June 2026, the CLEAR CITIES project (Interreg Europe) held a three-day interregional event in Burgas, Bulgaria, combining thematic discussions, exchanges of Good Practices, study visits and project coordination activities.

The thematic workshop “Waste 4.0 – Exploring Emerging Technologies for advanced, sustainable and resilient waste management” focused on the potential use of innovative solutions such as the Internet of Things, smart sensors, robotics, blockchain, drones, artificial intelligence, big data and augmented reality.

The programme also included study visits to local waste management initiatives, including an anaerobic installation, a mobile collection point, the planned site of Burgas’ first permanent waste collection point and St. Anastasia Island, described as Bulgaria’s only inhabited plastic-free island.

The event concluded with the CLEAR CITIES Steering Committee, during which partners discussed ongoing pilot activities, policy improvements, communication, financial progress and the next steps of the project.

A valuable opportunity to exchange experiences and strengthen interregional cooperation for cleaner, smarter and more sustainable cities!

Au cours des derniers mois, les partenaires italiens et français ont poursuivi les activités scientifiques, techniques et de sensibilisation consacrées à la connaissance, à la conservation et à la valorisation des plantes sauvages des Alpes Latines.

🇪🇺 🏛️ Durante la seconda giornata del meeting di progetto AdCap4GoodGov, finanziato da Interreg Europe, i partner si sono riuniti per discutere dello stato di avanzamento del progetto, degli effetti che le buone pratiche condivise stanno producendo nei contesti territoriali locali e dei prossimi passi da compiere insieme.

🇮🇹 Tema centrale della giornata anche l'organizzazione del prossimo meeting di progetto in Italia, che si terrà a Torino a febbraio 2027!

🤝 Il dialogo tra amministrazioni europee si conferma una leva strategica per affrontare sfide comuni con soluzioni efficaci e trasferibili. LAMORO continua a contribuire attivamente a questo processo, a beneficio del territorio piemontese e della cooperazione europea.

Un ringraziamento particolare a Ķekavas novads per l’accoglienza e arrivederci a febbraio!

🇪🇺🏛️Il 10 e 11 giugno, LAMORO ha partecipato insieme alla Regione Piemonte al quinto meeting interregionale di AdCap4GoodGov, progetto finanziato da Interreg Europe per il rafforzamento della capacità amministrativa degli enti pubblici.

📚 A Riga (Lettonia), due giorni di lavori con partner da tutta Europa su un tema centrale per le amministrazioni pubbliche: formazione e gestione delle risorse umane.

🎯 Nella prima giornata, tra i contributi più significativi, quello di Marco Brandolini, Dirigente Responsabile del Settore Sviluppo e Capitale Umano della Regione Piemonte, che ha presentato il modello di formazione manageriale basato sulle competenze definito dalla Scuola Nazionale dell'Amministrazione (SNA) e applicato nel contesto regionale piemontese.

Il confronto con le esperienze degli altri partner ha offerto prospettive preziose:

🔵La EFIAP Región de Murcia, con il suo protocollo per l'identificazione delle competenze critiche dei funzionari pubblici e la metodologia per rilevarne i bisogni formativi;

🔵Il Ministero dello Sviluppo e Lavori Pubblici rumeno (Ministerul Dezvoltării, Lucrărilor Publice şi Administraţiei), con un modello di classificazione delle competenze per la PA;

🔵La Stad Sint-Niklaas e i suoi strumenti per la promozione di una cultura dell'apprendimento continuo all'interno delle istituzioni;

🔵La Municipiul Alba Iulia con il suo programma per colmare il divario tra offerta formativa e mercato del lavoro.

La delegazione italiana torna a casa con nuove prospettive e preziose riflessioni sul tema della formazione nelle pubbliche amministrazioni!

🌱 LAMORO took part in the Central-BIC study visit in the coastal areas of Eastern Venice

On 30 June and 1 July 2026, LAMORO participated in the study visit and transnational activity “Experiences in agroecology in the coastal zones of Eastern Venice”, organised by VEGAL and Slow Food Veneto Orientale within the framework of the Central-BIC Interreg project, co-funded by the Interreg Central Europe Programme.

The study visit was an important opportunity for exchange and mutual learning on agroecology, biodiversity, multifunctional agriculture and the sustainable enhancement of local territories.

During the two days, the partners visited several local experiences and sites, including:

📍 Oasi Val Grande Bibione, with stops dedicated to the lagoon, fishing valleys, horse breeding, fish tourism and the relationship between biodiversity, landscape and local development
📍 Agri-Birrificio Artigianale B2O, an agricultural brewery connected to the local rural context
📍 Onde della Terra, a farm producing saffron, lavender, aromatic and medicinal herbs, with educational activities and immersive workshops on essential oils and botanical teas
📍 Agriturismo De Faveri, with a visit focused on the cultural recovery of ancient grains
📍 Azienda Agricola Biodinamica San Michele, where partners explored organic and biodynamic farming practices, animal welfare, habitat preservation and biodiversity enhancement

The study visit allowed participants to discover concrete examples of ecological regeneration, sustainable management of natural resources, environmental education and rural development, while strengthening the exchange among Central-BIC partners and the value of transnational cooperation.

🇪🇺🌱 Il progetto Germ of Life volge al termine!

💧Il prossimo 30 settembre si concluderà ufficialmente il progetto finanziato da Interreg Euro-MED Programme, nato per promuovere un approccio preventivo al rischio della siccità e mitigare gli effetti del cambiamento climatico nei territori mediterranei.

In collaborazione con l'Ente di Gestione delle Protette Po piemontese, abbiamo realizzato attività di monitoraggio e sensibilizzazione, coinvolgendo diversi portatori di interesse per una gestione più sostenibile delle risorse idriche.

Nel Parco delle Vallere è stata installata una stazione meteorologica e ambientale che continuerà a monitorare:

🌡️ temperatura, umidità, precipitazioni e pressione di vapore

🌱 contenuto idrico, salinità e permeabilità del suolo

☀️ radiazione solare, PAR e indice di vegetazione NDVI

Dati preziosi per supportare decisioni basate su evidenze scientifiche e tutelare ecosistemi e biodiversità.

⚠️ I numeri di ARPA Piemonte parlano chiaro: nell'ultimo mese le precipitazioni sono diminuite del 44% (fino al -50% nelle zone a Nord e a Est della regione). Le temperature di maggio sono state +1,1°C sopra la norma, con la portata del fiume Po che si è ridotta del 46%.

L'impegno di Germ of Life perciò non finisce qui: continueremo a lavorare per una gestione preventiva e sostenibile dell'acqua, basata su monitoraggio, conoscenza del territorio e collaborazione tra enti, ricerca e comunità locali. 🌿
