Ambassador Jenny Hill was pleased to welcome representatives of Lögberg-Heimskringla to the Embassy of in Iceland during their recent visit to .

Founded in 1886, Lögberg-Heimskringla is the longest continuously published ethnic newspaper in Canada and has played an important role in preserving and celebrating the shared heritage and enduring connections between Canada and Iceland for 140 years.

The discussion provided an opportunity to reflect on the strong people-to-people ties between our two countries and the vibrant Icelandic-Canadian community.

Ambassador Jenny Hill was pleased to attend the NATO Standing Maritime Group 1 (SNMG1) Change of Command Ceremony from the to aboard ‘s NCSM Ville de Quebec - HMCS Ville de Québec in , which has been the flagship for SNMG1, crewed by the Royal Canadian Navy under Commanding Officer Jason Knowles.

As part of Operation REASSURANCE, HMCS Ville de Québec is deployed to the North Atlantic, North Sea, and Baltic Sea, contributing to NATO's collective defence, deterrence, and maritime security efforts.

The ship will also participate in Exercise Northern Viking 26, a multinational Allied exercise that strengthens interoperability and readiness among NATO partners and enhances the defence of the North Atlantic region.
