Our sheep already called dibs on the best viewing spots. This Wednesday at 17:44, the sun disappears over Suðureyri for 1 minute 46 seconds, first time in the Westfjords since 1131. The clouds made no promises, but that's Iceland for you, nobody plans the weather here, they just prepare for it. Exact timings, the latest forecast and safety rules are in the article (link in bio). This article takes us back to our very first posts and to the story where it all began. A few years later, we are returning to Skáli Hallvarðs Súganda, and the story has come full circle.

It is no coincidence that I am publishing it today. The Act Alone festival begins in Suðureyri, with the first event starting at 5:46 p.m. and the official opening taking place at 6:16 p.m. It was during Act Alone two years ago that the skáli was officially opened.

The past few months have been incredibly busy. We have had many different matters to wrap up, while even more new projects and challenges have appeared along the way. Fortunately, everything is moving in the right direction, and step by step, we are getting closer to our goal.

Still, it is important to find time to take a break, even if only for a few days. There could hardly be a better time to return to Suðureyri than during the Act Alone festival. Every year, the organisers and the local community put an incredible amount of work into creating a few special days when everyone can slow down, come together, and simply enjoy the moment.

This will be the first time I return as a guest rather than a resident. After several months away, I cannot wait to visit Súgandafjörður again.

We would also like to take this opportunity to introduce our new website. We will continue developing it and regularly adding new content. You can already read about the Act Alone festival in three languages, and we warmly invite you to join us.

It’s that time of year now: there’s something about Iceland in the summer.

The light stretches a little longer. The air shifts without warning. And somehow, the smallest moments feel bigger than they should.

This moment was captured by in our first-ever photo contest last year—one of the images that perfectly captured that Iceland summer feeling.

The new summer season is slowly beginning. A lot has changed this year. I moved from Suðureyri to Reykjavík, but Súgandafjörður still remains a place I can call home.

We are currently finishing the first of what I hope will be many free materials promoting this region. The leaflet will be in A4 format, folded into three sections. We want to print it on waterproof paper so that it is not just another piece of paper that people throw away, but something worth keeping together with their memories.

The idea is that the leaflet contains basic information that is most important for visitors. The QR code will, however, lead to a full guide with a map, hiking trails, and photographs, which we will continue to expand and update over time.

I believe that information about driving from Ísafjörður and the tunnel traffic rules is among the most important information for ensuring the safety and comfort of drivers.

I would be grateful for any comments or suggestions. Hopefully, next week we will be able to send the final approved version to print.
