امروز سفارت بریتانیا در تهران مراسم روز یادبود کشته شدگان جنگ را برگزار کرد و یاد کسانی را گرامی داشت که در جنگ‌های جهانی اول و دوم و دیگر درگیری‌های پس از آن جان خود را فدا کردند.

در این روز ارزش‌هایی را ارج نهادیم که آنان برای پاسداشتشان جنگیدند: وظیفه شناسی، استقامت و صلح. میراث آنان یادآور بهای سنگین جنگ و اهمیت همیشگی آشتی و تفاهم میان ملت‌هاست.
A Moment to Remember, A Promise to Uphold

Today, the British Embassy in Tehran observed Remembrance Day, standing in tribute to those who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars and in later conflicts.

As we laid wreaths and paused in silence, we honoured not only the fallen but also the values they fought to protect - duty, resilience, and peace. Their legacy reminds us of the cost of war and the enduring importance of reconciliation and understanding.

Each year on 25 April, alongside our friends from Australia and New Zealand, we mark ANZAC Day - a commemoration of the Gallipoli landings in 1915.

Ambassador Hugo Shorter shares a personal connection to the occasion, as his great grandfather was one of those allied forces who landed on the Gallipoli peninsula on this day 110 years ago.

ANZAC Day is an opportunity to remember the dreadful losses suffered by so many in the battles and to reflect on the impact of conflict, not just historically but in contemporary contexts.

We will remember them. 🕯 ✨️
هر سال در ۲۵ آوریل، همراه با دوستان‌مان از استرالیا و نیوزیلند، روز انزک را گرامی می‌داریم — یادبودی برای فرود نیروهای متحد در گالیپولی در سال ۱۹۱۵.

هیوگو شورتر، سفیر بریتانیا، ارتباطی شخصی با این مناسبت دارد؛ چرا که جدّ او یکی از نیروهای متحدی بود که دقیقاً ۱۱۰ سال پیش، در چنین روزی، در سواحل گالیپولی پیاده شد.

روز انزک فرصتی‌ست برای یادآوریِ اندوه و قربانیان فراوان آن نبردها،
و تأملی بر اثرات عمیق جنگ — نه فقط در تاریخ، بلکه در جهان امروز.

ما آن‌ها را فراموش نخواهیم کرد. 🕯

جناب آقای هیوگو شورتر، سفیر جدید بریتانیا در ایران، استوارنامه خود را به دکتر مسعود پزشکیان، رئیس‌جمهور اسلامی ایران، تقدیم کرد و به طور رسمی به عنوان سفیر بریتانیا در ایران شروع به کار کرد.

Hugo Shorter, the new British Ambassador to Iran, presented his credentials to Dr. Massoud Pezeshkian, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, officially being recognized as the British Ambassador to Iran.

امروز روز جهانی مبارزه با مجازات اعدام است. بریتانیا با مجازات اعدام در هر شرایطی و هر کشوری مخالف است‌ و از ایران می‌خواهد همین حالا اجرای مجازات اعدام را به تعلیق درآورد.
The UK is opposed to the death penalty in all circumstances and in all countries, and calls on Iran to declare a moratorium on executions now.
