Shirwan Kamel Al-Waeli (born 1957) is an Iraqi politician and Minister of State for National Security in the government of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki. He graduated from the College of Military Engin

eering in 1979 and was assigned to the Department of Military Works, where his duties were to build military camps and facilities. He was arrested during the 1991 uprising and retired from the Kataeb. He studied law at the University of Basra. He served as Minister of National State Security, a member of the National Committee, a member of the House of Representatives, and an advisor to the President of the Republic for security and military affairs.

نستذكر في الاول من رجب شهادة اية الله العظمى السيد محمد باقرالحكيم الفقيه والزعيم الوطني الذي نذر النفس من اجل بناء الدولة العراقية الحديثة وعمل باخلاص طيلة عقدين في المنافي دفاعا عن حرية الشعب العراقي وانتصارا للحقوق المدنية والعدالة والمساواة الاجتماعية.
عاش السيد الشهيد رمزا للكلمة الحرة ووحدة العراقيين في مواجهة الاستبداد ولم يهن او يضعف امام محاولات النظام كسر ارادته باعدام اخوته وابناء عمومته وتصفية مايربو على الـ 60 شهيدا من اسرة الامام الحكيم بل زادته تلك المحن والتحديات قوة وبأسا شديدا واصرارا على مواصلة الطريق.
