The Phacoemulsification machine procured by Railway Hospital, RWF was inaugurated by Shri M. Pradhan, General Manager, RWF. The advanced equipment has been introduced to strengthen ophthalmic care facilities at the hospital and to provide improved and efficient treatment for patients requiring cataract surgeries.
Smt. Smt. Smaranika Pradhan, President, RWF Women’s Welfare Organisation, inaugurated a Health Check-up Camp for the women of West Colony. The camp included screening for anaemia, cancers, blood pressure, osteoporosis, heart-related ailments and gynaecological problems, with the objective of promoting preventive healthcare and early detection of health issues among women.
Shri Arun Kumar, PCMO, office bearers and members of RWFWWO, senior doctors, officers and family members were present on the occasion. The camp received an encouraging response from the participants. It has been proposed to conduct such health camps regularly to cover all the women residing in the employees’ colony and to create greater awareness about women’s health and well-being.

The renovated female ward at Railway Hospital, RWF, equipped with new steel cots and mattresses, was inaugurated by Smt. Smaranika Pradhan, President, RWF Women's Welfare Organisation. The initiative was undertaken to enhance the comfort and healthcare facilities for patients and reflects the commitment towards improving welfare amenities. As part of the World Environment Day Campaign 2026, an interactive session on Kitchen Gardening was organized at the RWF Institute.
Amara Nanjundeshwara delivered an insightful talk on the importance of kitchen gardening and explained various simple and effective methods for developing and maintaining a healthy kitchen garden at home. He also highlighted the numerous health and environmental benefits of growing fresh vegetables and herbs organically.
The session created awareness among participants about sustainable living practices and encouraged them to adopt eco-friendly habits in their daily lives. RWF staff and their family members participated in the programme with great enthusiasm and actively interacted during the session.

An informative talk followed by an interactive session on healthy lifestyle and nutrition was organised at RWF by Dr. Swati Narshana, Dietician, Navchetana Hospital, Yelahanka. During the session, Dr. Swati highlighted the importance of maintaining a balanced and nutritious diet along with regular physical exercise for overall well-being and disease prevention. She explained that healthy eating habits, adequate hydration, proper sleep and regular physical activity play a vital role in leading a fit and stress-free life.
The session also focused on creating awareness about lifestyle-related health issues and the importance of adopting simple yet effective daily health practices.
Shri M. Pradhan, General Manager, RWF, Dr. Arun Kumar, Principal Chief Medical Officer, along with other senior officers, participated in the session. Participants appreciated the initiative aimed at promoting health awareness and wellness among employees. The programme was well received by all participants and contributed towards encouraging a healthier lifestyle.

In view of observance of the World No To***co Day 2026, a Drawing and Painting Competition was conducted on 25.05.2026 at the Conference Hall of RH/RWF on the theme “Unmask the Appeal – Countering Ni****ne and To***co Addiction”.

The competition was organized in three age groups:

6–12 years
13–19 years
19 years & above

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from children, who creatively expressed awareness against to***co and ni****ne addiction through drawings and paintings. The programme aimed to encourage awareness on the harmful effects of to***co use and promote a healthy lifestyle through creative expression.

Voluntary Blood Donation Camp at Rail Wheel Factory

Shri M. Pradhan, General Manager, RWF, inaugurated the Voluntary Blood Donation Camp held at Employees’ Institute on 13/05/2026 and led the initiative by donating blood.

The camp, organized in collaboration with MS Ramaiah Memorial Hospital, witnessed enthusiastic participation from employees, family members and Staff Council members. Around 84 volunteers donated blood, reflecting the strong spirit of social responsibility and humanitarian service at RWF.

The camp was coordinated by Dr. Sanjana Sinha, ACMS/RH/RWF under the guidance of PCMO Dr. Arun Kumar.

World Asthma Day was observed in Railway Hospital/RWF. Dr. Sandhya, Senior Divisional Medical Officer, addressed the gathering and emphasized the need to overcome the stigma associated with asthma. She highlighted the importance of regular treatment, particularly the use of inhaled corticosteroids, in effectively managing the condition.

A patient, Mr. Suban Sheriff, shared his personal experience of successfully managing his very severe asthma with the support and treatment provided by Railway Hospital, RWF. His testimony served as an encouraging example for others undergoing similar challenges.

As part of the initiative, a spirometry camp was also organized to facilitate early detection and monitoring of respiratory conditions.
