The Government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to celebrate the 800th year of Ramappa Temple and 750th year of coronation of Rani Rudramma devi in a big way as "KAKTIYA UTSAVALU 2012-13". Kakatiya festival is aimed at showcasing the architectural, cultural and historical grandeur of the Kakatiya dynasty which ruled during 1230-1323 AD with Warangal as headquarter. g festivities will kick start with three day cultural extravaganza starting from the 21st to 23rd December 2012. The district administration, with guidance from the Department of Tourism and the support of Kakatiya Heritage Trust and the INTACH plan to conduct the festival showcasing the rich heritage, culture, architecture and the glory of the Kakatiya regime. The festival is being planned at three venues each of which is a showpiece of the Kakatiya rule. The historic Warangal Fort, Ramappa temple and the Thousand Pillar temple were chosen to be the venues. Various events and programmes highlighting the heritage and glory of the Kakatiya's contribution have been planned. A cultural extravaganza with performances by the exponents of classical performing arts in the country has also been planned during the festival. Cultural performances of various genres, literary activities, events showcasing the rural, cultural and sporting scenario have been planned. Food courts creating the ambience of overall festivities and celebration are proposed to be set up. Renowned personalities of Warangal district, who have brought laurels in different fields, will be felicitated during the Kakatiya festival.
