A Menstrual and Environmental Pollution awareness programme was done by Hindustan Scouts and Guides Association members of Vadodara and Vatsalya Foundation members.
HSGA Members of Vadodara with Vatsalya Foundation organized an awareness programme for the women and girls at Bakrol village on Ajwa Nimeta Road near the city. The women and girls of the village were given a three month supply of Biodegradable sanitary napkins made by Vatsalya Foundation to about 200 women. In addition they were educated on the menstrual cycle and hygiene and were also taught how to dispose off the sanitary napkin in a way to control environmental pollution using an incinerator, which was also given to the village.
The women are being trained on how to make these bio degradable sanitary napkins for themselves and for the other women and girls in their village. This will help the women and girls become self-reliant.
Lack of menstrual knowledge, poor access to sanitary products and a non-facilitating school environment can make it difficult for girls to attend school.
