Thoothukudi Corporation – Work Updates (08.08.2026)

On 08.08.2026, Thoothukudi Corporation carried out various sanitation, public health, animal welfare, environmental maintenance, and awareness activities across the city.

1. West Zone, Division 11 – Wood waste removal work was carried out at Rajiv Nagar Main Road.
2. North Zone, Division 5, Ward 13 – A special ARV vaccination camp was conducted for community dogs in Kurinji Nagar and Polepettai areas as part of rabies prevention measures.
3. North Zone, Division 1, Ward 2 – Pulse fogging work was carried out at Ram Nagar 4th and 5th Streets.
4. East Zone, Division 9, Ward 40, Railway Station – Source reduction activities were carried out to prevent mosquito breeding.
5. South Zone, Division 17, Ward 50, Kirubai Nagar – Source reduction work was carried out as part of vector-control measures.
6. East Zone – Unwanted banners were removed near the Zone Office as part of city maintenance activities.
7. West Zone, Ganesh Nagar – Unwanted posters were removed from public walls, followed by whitewashing to improve the appearance of the area.
8. South Zone, Division 16, Ward 45, Sivanthakulam Main Road – Under the “My Waste, My Responsibility” campaign, unwanted hoardings and posters were removed to promote cleaner public spaces.
9. East Zone, Division 9, Ward 40 – Unwanted posters were removed and walls near the East Zone Office were cleaned and whitewashed.
10. South Zone, Division 19, Ward 55, Athimarapatti Road – A ₹2,000 fine was imposed for dumping textile waste in a public area.
11. North Zone, Division 5, New Bus Stand – A wall was beautified with an awareness painting highlighting SWM Rules 2026 and the importance of four-bin waste segregation.

Thoothukudi Corporation – Work Updates (05.08.2026)

On 05.08.2026, Thoothukudi Corporation continued its efforts towards public health, sanitation, infrastructure development, and environmental maintenance across the city.

1. Teachers Colony – Footing concrete work under the Buckle Canal project is in progress.
2. Pullthottam OHT – Water supply inspection was carried out.
3. West Zone, Millerpuram – Posters on public walls were removed as part of city maintenance.
4. West Zone, Paulpandi Nagar 1st Street – The Assistant Commissioner inspected door-to-door waste collection activities.
5. West Zone, Jeyaraj Road – A single-use plastic raid resulted in the seizure of 70 kg of banned plastics, with ₹6,700 collected as penalty.
6. North Zone, Division 1 – Outdoor and pulse fogging works were carried out in Millavittan, Kakkanji Colony, Pandarampatti Road, Ayyasamy Colony, Muthammal Colony, Rahmath Nagar, and Ram Nagar following reported dengue and fever cases.
7. East Zone – Cleaning works are in progress in the OLS Festival area.

On 01.08.2026, Thoothukudi Corporation carried out several public health, sanitation, environmental maintenance, and infrastructure-related activities across the city.

1. North Zone, Division 2, Ward 3, Housing Board – An Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) camp was conducted as part of animal welfare and public health initiatives.
2. North Zone, Division 5, Ward 20, Nandhagopalapuram West Street – A Public Health notice was issued to a cattle owner for dumping cow dung and garbage near the Buckle Canal. A penalty of ₹2,000 was imposed.
3. West Zone – Institutional Dog ARV vaccination and dog-catching activities were carried out at Government Polytechnic College.
4. North Zone, Division 4, Krishnarajapuram Main Road – Awareness on SWM Rules 2026 and the 4-bin waste segregation system was created through banners and pamphlet distribution to the public and shopkeepers near St. Thomas Matriculation Higher Secondary School.
5. North Zone, Division 5, New Bus Stand – Water washing work was carried out to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
6. OLS Festival Area – Cleaning works were undertaken in the surrounding areas to ensure a clean environment for devotees and visitors.

2. East Zone, Matha Kovil Festival Area – A roll call meeting was conducted for sanitation workers. A total of 10 workers were present and deployed for festival-related cleanliness activities.

On 24.07.2026, Thoothukudi Corporation carried out enforcement, public health, and stakeholder engagement activities across the city.

1. South Zone, Mullakadu – Hoarding removal work was carried out as part of ongoing enforcement measures to maintain clean and orderly public spaces.
2. North Zone, Division 3, Ward 7 – An Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) camp was conducted for pet animals. A total of 52 pets were vaccinated as part of the Corporation’s efforts to promote animal welfare and prevent rabies.
3. Thoothukudi Corporation – A meeting was organized at 3.30 PM with representatives of digital banner printing agencies to discuss regulatory compliance, civic responsibilities, and matters related to the display of banners within the Corporation limits.
