Tech Touch - Beyond Vision
As part of the National Technology Day 2026 celebrations themed “Responsible Innovation for Inclusive Growth,” International Centre for Free and Open Source Software (ICFOSS), in collaboration with Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), organized an Inclusive Technology Training Programme "Tech Touch - Beyond Vision" for visually impaired students on 13 May 2026 at the ICFOSS campus, Karyavattom.
The programme aimed to empower visually impaired students through accessible & inclusive technological solutions that support education, communication, mobility, and independent living. Participants were introduced to recent advancements in mobile technology & assistive applications designed to enhance learning, navigation, & everyday accessibility.
A major highlight of the programme was the hands-on training session conducted by the Assistive Technology Department of ICFOSS, where students interacted with innovative educational devices developed specifically for visually impaired learners. The session included practical exposure to assistive learning tools related to Braille education, tactile maps, periodic tables, electronic configuration models, place value systems, light dispersion concepts, & other learner-centric educational aids.
The initiative reflects the vision of ICFOSS to build a future where technology becomes a bridge to equality, empowerment, & opportunity for all, especially persons with visual impairments. Through the integration of Free and Open Source Solutions principles with socially responsible innovation, ICFOSS strives to create an inclusive technological ecosystem that promotes accessible education, independent living, & meaningful participation in society.
By focusing on research, collaboration, & community-driven development, ICFOSS continues to design innovative assistive solutions that nurture knowledge, creativity, confidence, & independence among visually impaired students. The organization remains committed to ensuring that no learner is left behind in the digital era & to transforming technology into a powerful instrument of inclusion, accessibility & social progress.
