Secretariat Assistant is the popular name of the Government Job Assistant. Kerala PSC conducts the examination for Assistant to appoint them in the following Government departments.

1. Kerala Public Service Commission
3. Advocate General Office
5. Anti Corruption Bureau

The minimum qualification for the job is Graduation is any discipline. The job of the Assistant is basically clerical in nature

. But it has tremendous promotion scope. The first important promotion is to the post of Section Officer, a middle level management post. The other subsequent promotions are Under Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Joint Secretary, Additional Secretary and Special Secretary. Recently Government has included administrative Secretariat in the Kerala State Civil Services. Therefore, those who become Under Secretary are eligible for IAS absorption.
