सुप्रसिद्ध संस्कृत पंडित आणि आगमशास्त्राचे गाढे अभ्यासक डॉ. प्रभाकर आपटे यांचे आज वयाच्या ९२व्या वर्षी निधन झाले. ही बातमी अत्यंत दुःखद असून ही एक अपूरणीय हानी आहे.
डॉ. आपटे हे पंचरात्र आगमांच्या गहन अभ्यासासाठी ओळखले जात. त्यांनी सात्त्वत संहिता आणि पौष्कर संहिता यांसारख्या महत्त्वाच्या ग्रंथांचे भाषांतर आणि सुलभ विवेचन केले होते. त्यांचा संशोधनपर दृष्टिकोन, व्यासंगी वाचन आणि अत्यंत सखोल समज यामुळे ते भारतीय पारंपरिक विद्येतील एक तेजस्वी दीपस्तंभ ठरले होते.
त्यांचा वारसा म्हणजे भारतीय तत्त्वज्ञान, संस्कृत साहित्य आणि देवालय स्थापत्य यांची समग्र समज. त्यांच्या कार्यामुळे अनेक अभ्यासकांना मार्गदर्शन लाभले आणि नव्या संशोधनाला चालना मिळाली.
त्यांच्या निधनाने एक काळ संपला आहे. त्यांच्या स्मृती, ग्रंथसंपदा आणि विचार यांद्वारे ते सदैव आपल्यात जिवंत राहतील.

Dr. Prabhakar Apte, a revered Sanskrit scholar and expert on the Agamas, left us today at the age of 92 in Thane. Dr. Apte was renowned for his profound knowledge of the Pancharatra Agamas and made significant contributions to Sanskrit literature and temple architecture studies. His translations of the Sattvata Samhita and Poushkara Samhita are notable works in the field.
He was not only a scholar but also a trained lawyer, uniquely bridging the worlds of traditional Indian jurisprudence and modern legal frameworks. His interpretations of Dharmaśāstra and Indian legal philosophy were deeply insightful and rooted in both textual tradition and practical wisdom.
Dr. Apte was actively involved with several prestigious institutions, including Deccan College (Pune)—a premier center for Indological research—as well as the Vidya Prasaran Mandal and the Institute for Oriental Studies in Thane.
He generously shared his knowledge through lectures, many of which are available to the public on the Samanvay Pratishthan page, covering topics such as Sanskrit lexicography, Bhakti Sutras, and Agamashastra.
His scholarly integrity, humility, and commitment to preserving India’s intellectual heritage will continue to guide future generations. He leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of learning, reflection, and service to Sanskrit and Indian knowledge systems.
His demise is a significant loss to the community of Sanskrit scholars and enthusiasts. Dr. Apte's dedication to preserving and interpreting ancient texts has left an indelible mark on the field. His teachings and writings will continue to inspire future generations.
