On 10/06/2026 The Block Level Field visit cm Inspection was conducted by ATMA , Agriculture Department, Government of Sikkim, Gangtok District at Nandok Block by the Miss. Sushmita Lama Tamang, Respected Deputy Director cm Deputy Project Director, ATMA, Gangtok District at Four Different GPUs of Nandok Block. In the entire tour the Assistant Technology Manager (ATM) and Block Technology Manager (BTM) ATMA, Nandok Block were also present followed by Agriculture Inspectors, VLWs, FAs, Krishi Sevak/Sevika, MAs, OAs of Agriculture Department and FA of Horticulture Department was also present at their respective villages/GPUs. BTM, Khamdong Block and ATM, Rakdong-Tintek Block were also present as a Guest/Visitors at Nandok Block.
The 1st visit was conducted at Currently running Farm School which was opened by ATMA on Horticulture Based Farming System at Rongay on March, 2026. The Respected Deputy Director carried out a session regarding ATMA scheme, its various components and especially delivered the fruitful session regarding Farm school and advice farmers to improve yield of different crops through Improved farming practices and focussed on importance of Smart farming by growing offseason vegetable production which will help farmers to improve economic livelihood. She further visited the farm area and inspected all the basic components of Farm School where she found all the components are in perfect manner and sequence and just suggested farmer to improve aesthetic of farm by including more vegetable production in offseason,succulent plant may be added, more focus on Sunflower 🌻 production,sesame production etc. At the same time 2nd critical stage of Farm School was also conducted inside Green house sown seeds of Tomato which was sown on 1st critical stage conducted on 29th May, 2026 and it is germination/Vegetative stage.
The 2nd Visit was conducted at Farm School on Nursery Management of Vegetable crops at Zimpung, Syari, Nandok Block.
During the visit, the Deputy Director inspected the Azolla pond, which was found to be well-maintained and exhibiting healthy growth. She also visited the greenhouse of the Farm School, where tomato seedlings treated with Beejamrit and Trichoderma harzianum were observed to be growing in good condition.
Furthermore, the Deputy Director inspected the cattle unit of Mr. Prem Prasad Sharma, which serves as his source of income.
Field functionaries of Kopibari Syari GPU also brought forward issues related to PM-KISAN and PMKSY tanks for discussion and consideration by the Deputy Director.
The field visit concluded on a positive and encouraging note, with fruitful interactions among the officials, field staff, and participating farmers
The 3rd visit cm Inspection on same day was conducted at the field of Mr. Ram Bahadur Chettri, a progressive farmer of Lower Nandok, Nandok Saramsa GPU. During inspection she highlighted some of the key points as follows:-
• Farmer to Farmer Training where a progressive farmer is designated as teacher farmer to instruct other farmers.
• Incorporation of Vermicompost, Azolla in the particular field was encouraged.
• Cultivation of Sunflower along the bunds of field and Zero Tillage Field Pea Cultivation was encouraged. The field of Mr. Ram Bahadur Chettri included Line Sowing of Maize Variety R-62 Intercropping with Ginger one of a profitable and sustainable agriculture practice.
The nursery bed of Rice Variety Sikkim Dhan 1 was also observed.
Mr. Ram Bahadur Chettri was also ignited about the Farm School, a component of ATMA designed to promote practical, farmers to farmer learning.
The 4th and last visit cm field inspection was conducted in the field of Mr. Rangalal Sharma, a progressive farmer of Tadong-Samdur.
During the visit, the team observed the cultivation of Maize and Ginger in the farmer’s field. The farmer has also adopted Bee-Keeping, which was appreciated as an important practice for enhancing pollination and farm income. The Cherry Pepper nursery maintained by the farmer was also inspected.
The officials interacted with the farmer and discussed the organization of training programmes and agricultural activities under ATMA to strengthen his knowledge and skills in improved farming practices.
The farmer was encouraged to undertake Sunflower cultivation along the field bunds for additional income generation and to support pollinator activities. The team appreciated the farmer’s efforts and assured continued technical support for the promotion of sustainable agriculture in the area.
