YS Jagan demands CBI probe into DSC-2025 scam
Tadepalli, June 3: Former Chief Minister and YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has demanded a CBI inquiry into the DSC-2025 recruitment process, stating that the testimonies of candidates reveal widespread irregularities, violations and lack of transparency in the conduct of the examination and selection process. He said that if the government fails to order a CBI investigation, in future, the YSRCP government would constitute a Commission of Inquiry to investigate every complaint and ensure justice to affected candidates.
Several DSC-2025 candidates from different districts across Andhra Pradesh met Y.S. Jagan at the YSRCP Central Office and explained the difficulties they faced despite securing ranks, attending interviews, completing certificate verification and fulfilling all eligibility requirements. After patiently hearing their grievances, Y.S. Jagan assured them that they would not be left alone in their fight for justice and that YSRCP would stand firmly by them.
Describing the situation as deeply disturbing, Y.S. Jagan said it was unacceptable that many candidates who were called for certificate verification under a strict one-to-one ratio, completed every stage of the recruitment process and received call letters, were ultimately denied appointments. He said there could be no greater injustice than calling candidates for verification and interviews, declaring them eligible and then refusing to provide jobs without proper explanation.
Y.S. Jagan said the recruitment process has raised serious concerns from the very beginning. He pointed out that allegations surfaced regarding question paper leaks even before the examination. Subsequently, Government Orders were issued and modified in a manner that created confusion and raised questions about the fairness of the selection process. He said candidates have consistently pointed to discrepancies in merit lists, reservation implementation, sports quota appointments, roster points and final selections, while authorities have failed to provide convincing answers to their grievances.
Referring to the Sports Quota recruitment process, Y.S. Jagan said the government initially issued a Government Order allowing appointments based solely on sports certificates without any examination. Under those rules, appointments were made in the Sports Quota category. Once the recruitment process was completed, another Government Order was issued stipulating that candidates applying under the Sports Quota must also appear for examinations, qualify in TET and fulfil other eligibility conditions. He questioned why the rules were changed only after the recruitment process had been completed and said the sequence of events raises serious concerns about the manner in which appointments were made.
He noted that several candidates who met him had secured top ranks in their respective categories and districts, completed certificate verification and interviews, yet were denied appointments. In some cases, candidates were informed that they had not attended verification, while those very candidates later approached the courts seeking justice. In other cases, candidates found their names neither in the selected list nor in the rejected list despite completing all required formalities. He said such inconsistencies further strengthen the need for an independent investigation.
Y.S. Jagan recalled that within six months of the YSRCP government assuming office in 2019, over 1.30 lakh jobs were filled in a transparent manner without controversy. He said it was surprising that the present government was facing such serious questions and complaints while filling around 16,000 posts. Transparency, fairness and merit should be the foundation of any recruitment process, he added.
Assuring complete support to the affected candidates, Y.S. Jagan announced that YSRCP would constitute a dedicated legal panel comprising the party’s legal team, Teacher MLCs and representatives of the student wing to pursue the matter legally. He said the party would fight on behalf of the candidates in courts and bear all legal expenses so that no deserving candidate is denied justice because of financial constraints.
Reiterating his demand for a CBI probe, Y.S. Jagan said every complaint raised by DSC candidates deserves a thorough and impartial investigation. He stated that if the government does not order such an inquiry, a future YSRCP government would appoint a Commission of Inquiry to examine every specific case, identify irregularities and fix accountability. He further assured the candidates that wherever injustice is established, appropriate corrective measures would be taken and, if necessary, additional posts would be created to ensure justice for those who were unfairly denied appointments.
Urging the candidates not to lose hope, Y.S. Jagan said justice may be delayed but it cannot be denied. He assured them that YSRCP would continue to support them at every stage of their legal and democratic fight. Recalling that candidates who suffered injustice in the 1998 DSC recruitment process were eventually provided relief, he expressed confidence that justice would also be delivered to those affected in DSC-2025.
