Budgam, Apr 11: Senior Superintendent of Police Budgam, Hariprasad K.K. on Saturday urged parents, teachers, and society to remain alert in identifying early signs of drug abuse among children and youth.
SSP Budgam made these remarks while speaking to media on the sidelines of the 100-day intensive UT-Wide Campaign launched by LG Manoj Sinha on “Nasha Mukht Abhiyan,” aimed at curbing drug abuse and promoting a drug-free society, Hariprasad as per news agency Kashmir News Corner --- KNC said, that families play the most important role in detecting substance abuse at an early stage.
“The first responsibility lies with the family. There is a saying that it takes a society to raise a child. Early signs of drug addiction are first noticed by parents, teachers, and neighbours,” he said.
He stressed the need for timely action and urged families to immediately approach police, administration, or health departments if any such signs are observed. “This issue is not unsolvable. With proper treatment, a child can recover fully and be reintegrated into society,” he said, adding that police will act strictly against drug suppliers while ensuring rehabilitation of affected individuals with compassion.
The SSP further said that strict action will continue against drug peddlers, while addicts will be supported through counselling and de-addiction services. He also encouraged people to make use of the available counselling facilities, stating that the system is open to all. — (KNC)
