Srinagar Development Authority Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) was constituted under Section-3 of Jammu and Kashmir Developmen However, it has expanded immensely over the years.

Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) was constituted under Section-3 of Jammu and Kashmir Development Act 1970 (enforced in J&K with effect from 31 October 1970 through SRO 518 dated 31-10-1970). Objective of the Authority is to promote and secure planned development of the local area, and for that purpose the Authority has the powers to acquire, hold, manage and dispose of land and other property

and to carry out building, engineering and other operations. The Local Area in and around Srinagar delineated vide SRO 43 dated 2 February 1971 initially formed the area of jurisdiction under the Authority. SDA’s mandate is to manage the land transferred to it by the Government from time to time, develop it to create better infrastructure to cater to the needs and demands of the fast expanding Srinagar urban area. Over the years SDA has created massive infrastructure like commercial and office complexes, residential colonies, parks, community halls and green belts in and around Srinagar. SDA is also entrusted with the job of formulating and implementing Master Plan for Srinagar city. First Master Plan for Srinagar was prepared by SDA in 1976 and it was notified by the Government vide SRO 754 dated 22 November 1976. The second Master Plan (2000-2021) is presently under operation and implementation which was notified vide SRO-28 dated 30 January 2003. SDA is currently in the process of formulating the Master Plan 2012-2032 and Zonal Plans for Greater Srinagar encompassing Local Area of 757 Sq KMs against 417 Sq KMs in Master Plan 2000-2021.

Street vendors had illegally encroached upon the government land near children's hospital at Bemina Srinagar thereby causing inconvenience to the general public particularly the people visiting the hospital.
Today in a joint operation with the enforcement team from SMC, the Enforcement wing of SDA removed these illegal encroachments/ vendors and restored the government land to its original position. The Vendors have been warned to desist from resorting to illegal practice. Action against the encroachments and illegal practices shall continue unabated.

Enforcement wing of SDA today dismantled illegal construction in Nowgam area. The work on the building had already been stopped earlier. FIR stands registered in the matter.

On the 3rd and final day of the scheduled "draw of lots" today on 03.06.2023 draw for plot size 75'x36' (10 Marla) was held in the lawns of the SDA office complex at Bemina Bypass.
This completes the process of draw of lots for all the three sizes of plots for which applications had been invited online.
