This is a call to all the founding members and participating members to come together again after a long lull, with the same enthusiasm and dedication that we had when we started way back in 2010. Yes the road is rough and obstacles are many but we will slowly work toward our goal of providing our community with social services needed. Things that get neglected in the broad visible spectrum of priorities for the media and governments to debate on.
This forum is in no way affiliated with any religious, or political organization but a sincere effort by like-minded individuals to come together voluntarily to offer their skills, time and effort for the betterment of Kashmiri people.
In the past, our awareness campaigns communications and education has been around saving Dal Lake for which we provided a memorandum to the government with a detailed report. Our effort was also geared up during floods.
Now is the time to re-prioritize with growing social needs in view of the current climate. We will aim to focus on areas that are not given much attention and as such lack resources and support in present times. Some of these worth mentionings are:
* Need for rehabilitation centers due to the rise of mental health cases like depression and anxiety etc.
*Sustainability through small scale business growth model and vocational education
*International consultancy

Social Empowerment:

The growing menace of drug addiction in the valley and the state is baffling. Our youth are falling prey to this growing menace which threatens the very existence of our societical norms and culture.
According to the sources on the ground the college and school canteens, the pakora walla hawkers , the high profile gangs that sell these drugs, the chemists that supply the medicines over the counters and finally the authorities that aid and abet the crime by helping in supply.
The victims are the youth and their families. The social stigma, the expensive treatment if they desire to send the ward outside the state, the limited facilities, counselling and support all means that the families and victims have limited choices. Its a long road of pain and sufering.

I would like to initiate a dialougue and discussion on how best to address this problem in the state. Lets all join hands and find a solution. Lets create awareness and education programs for kids. Lets show the light.

Due to the recent floods in Kashmir,Vision Kashmir will focus on dedicating this page to our volunteers who have tirelessly worked over the past 10 days and rescued people ,provided relief and helped in all other ways for the people of Kashmir. We invite people to tell us their stories and acknowledge individuals and volunteer groups that helped them. This is our thanks to them .
