NIT Srinagar Launches Six-Month Endowment Drive for Alumni and Education Lovers Worldwide

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar has launched an ambitious “Endowment Drive” for a period of six months, inviting contributions from alumni, industrialists, philanthropists, and education lovers across the globe to support the institute’s vision for academic excellence, research, innovation, and student welfare.

The initiative was formally announced on May 31, 2026, following the successful conclusion of SANGAM 3.0 (Students Alumni Networking for Growth, Aspiration and Monitoring) at Gulmarg. The Global Alumni Meet was organized under the aegis of the Alumni Association of REC/NIT Srinagar and the leadership of Er. Malay Chatterjee, President of the Alumni Association, and **Er. F. A. Shah, Chairman of the Advisory Board

Established in 1960 as REC Srinagar and now one of India’s premier technical institutions, NIT Srinagar has made remarkable strides in academics, research, innovation, and societal development. Its distinguished alumni network, comprising over 40,000 members worldwide continues to contribute significantly to the institute’s growth and reputation.

The Endowment Drive aims to mobilize support for initiatives that benefit students and society, including scholarships, academic and research activities, innovation projects, infrastructure development, and other humanitarian and educational causes.

The institute has appealed to alumni and well-wishers to spread the message across their professional and social networks and actively participate in this collective effort to strengthen the institution’s future.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. M. A. Shah, Dean Alumni & International Affairs, and Er. Malay Chatterjee, President, Alumni Association REC/NIT Srinagar, expressed confidence that the rich legacy of SANGAM will continue to flourish through endowments, awards, and gifts, fostering a culture of giving back and institutional excellence.

From inspiring conversations on innovation, mentorship and entrepreneurship to meaningful networking and alumni engagement, NIT Srinagar’s flagship global alumni reunion, SANGAM 3.0, concluded successfully at Gulmarg after two days of vibrant interactions and collaboration.

The event brought together distinguished alumni from across the world, reaffirming their commitment to supporting the institute in research, innovation, student mentorship, placements and institutional development. The programme received widespread media coverage, highlighting NIT Srinagar’s growing global alumni network and its vision for academic excellence and nation-building.

A heartfelt thank you to all alumni, guests, stakeholders and media organizations for making SANGAM 3.0 a memorable success.

NIT Srinagar NCC Cadets Shine at ‘Run With Pride – Run for India’ Event

Srinagar, May 24: The NCC cadets of National Institute of Technology Srinagar delivered an outstanding performance in the “Run With Pride – Run for India” event organised by the Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Directorate NCC as part of on Sunday.

Around 30 NCC cadets from NIT Srinagar participated in the 5-kilometre Unity Run held along the scenic Boulevard Road from Nishat Garden to SKICC, Srinagar. The event witnessed participation of nearly 500 NCC cadets from different parts of the country from all 17 Directorates of NCC and highlighted the spirit of unity, discipline, patriotism and fitness.

The event was flagged off by Director General NCC, Lt Gen Virendra Vats, YSM, SM, VSM, and was graced by senior NCC officials including the Additional Director General NCC.

Bringing laurels to the institute, two girl cadets from 9 JK Girls Bn NCC Srinagar representing NIT Srinagar secured positions among the top five winners in the girls’ category. Cadet Nikita Kajla secured the 1st position, while Cadet Sakshi Sharma achieved the 5th position in the prestigious event.

ANO NCC Lt. Dr. Nitika Kundan congratulated the cadets for their remarkable achievement and said the performance reflects the dedication, discipline and commitment of NIT Srinagar NCC cadets.

“Our cadets have once again demonstrated excellence through hard work, determination and team spirit. Securing top positions in such a prestigious national-level event is a matter of immense pride for the institute and the NCC unit,” she said.

In his message, Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Binod Kumar Kanaujia, congratulated the cadets and appreciated their outstanding performance. He said participation in such events promotes discipline, leadership, fitness and national integration among students.

“The achievement of our NCC cadets at the Unity Run is truly commendable. Their success reflects the spirit of patriotism, perseverance and excellence that NIT Srinagar continues to nurture among its students,” he said.

Registrar, Prof. (Dr.) Atikur Rehman, also congratulated the cadets and NCC officials for the achievement and said such accomplishments bring pride and recognition to the institute at the national level.

He said NCC activities play a significant role in shaping responsible and disciplined youth while encouraging active participation in nation-building initiatives.

The achievement of the cadets was widely appreciated by faculty members, NCC officials and participants present on the occasion.

NIT Srinagar set for mega global alumni meet ‘SANGAM 3.0’ on May 30

· Newly elected executive committee reviews preparations for flagship alumni gathering

Srinagar, May 24: The newly elected Executive Committee of the REC/NIT Srinagar Alumni Association reviewed the final arrangements for the upcoming Global Alumni Meet–2026, “SANGAM 3.0,” scheduled to be held on May 30 at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, with the participation of more than 100 alumni.

The meeting was convened under the guidance of Dean of Alumni & International Affairs, Prof. (Dr.) M.A. Shah, and attended by newly elected members of the Executive Committee of the REC/NIT Srinagar Alumni Association for the term 2026–2029, along with senior faculty members and organizers associated with the event.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding reception arrangements, registration of alumni delegates, hospitality, accommodation, cultural activities, technical sessions, networking events, and coordination with various committees to ensure the smooth conduct of the mega alumni gathering.

The committee also finalized logistical preparations for the inaugural function scheduled on May 30.

Organizers stated that alumni from different parts of the country and abroad are expected to participate in the event, aimed at strengthening institutional bonds and fostering collaboration among alumni, students, and faculty members.

The detailed report was presented by the Associate Dean Alumni & International Affairs, Dr. H.S. Pali, and Dr. Dinesh Kumar Rajendran.

The newly elected Executive Committee announced for 2026–2029 includes Er. Malay Chatterjee (Civil Engineering, 1979–1984) as President, Er. Sayyed Parvaiz Qalandar (Civil Engineering, 1975–1980) as Vice President of the leadership body, and Er. Irfan Rashid Ashai as General Secretary. Other office bearers include Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Soti (Civil Engineering) and Er. Muzafar Ahmad Beigh, who will serve in key leadership and coordination roles within the association.

Farhan Manzoor (Electrical Engineering, 2006–2010) has been appointed Additional Secretary-II, while Dr. Sajad Hussain Din (Mechanical Engineering, 2017) will serve as Joint Secretary-I. Er. Toyibah (Chemical Engineering, 2014–2018) has been named Joint Secretary-II, Er. Mohd Hanief Dar (PhD Civil Engineering) as Joint Secretary-III, and Dr. Sajad Ahmad Mir (PhD Physics, 2016) as Treasurer-cum-Cashier.

In his message, Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, said that alumni are among the strongest ambassadors of the institute and their achievements continue to inspire the student community.

“SANGAM 3.0 would further strengthen the bond between the institute and its alumni while opening new avenues for academic, research, and industry collaboration,” he added.

Registrar, Prof. (Dr.) Atikur Rehman said the Institute administration is committed to extending full support for the successful conduct of the global alumni meet.

He stated that such initiatives help in building a vibrant alumni ecosystem that contributes significantly towards the growth and development of the institution.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) M.A. Shah congratulated the newly elected team and expressed confidence that the association would play a significant role in enhancing alumni engagement, academic collaboration, mentoring initiatives, and institutional development.

On the occasion, Dr H. S Pali emphasized the importance of alumni participation in shaping the future roadmap of the institute. He said SANGAM 3.0 would serve as a vibrant platform for meaningful interaction and exchange of ideas among alumni across generations.

Er. Sayyed Parvaiz Qalandar expressed gratitude to the alumni fraternity for reposing trust in the new team and said the committee would work with dedication and commitment to serve the alma mater to the best of its capabilities while strengthening the global alumni network of NIT Srinagar.

The organizers appealed to alumni of REC/NIT Srinagar across the globe to actively participate in the event and contribute towards strengthening the alumni network of the institute.

Initiatives like ABC underscore the Institute’s commitment to strengthening alumni engagement as a cornerstone of institutional growth, and we will continue them as regular events at the Institute.
