Jammu and Kashmir: ACIF (India) held a meeting at the ACIF office in the presence of chief Syed Abid and his team members. Syed Abid stated that as of September 1, 2026, numerous places in Jammu and Kashmir have experienced significant flood damage affecting markets, houses, and other properties.

Syed Abid emphasized that these damages were caused by the encroachment of lakes and rivers. He pointed out that many illegal buildings and complexes have been constructed on the river banks/ edges,which poses a serious threat. He warned that if these illegal complexes are not removed promptly, future generations will face severe consequences, and no one will be able to escape the impact of high floods.

Kashmir: The Anti Corruption Investigation Force of India held a meeting at their office with chief Syed Abid and his team members present. Syed Abid stated that some individuals have taken control of water bodies and established stands on complexes for personal profit. He expressed concern that the relevant departments have remained silent on this issue.

Similar encroachments have been reported in several other markets across Kashmir, where shopkeepers and vendors have occupied roads. This violation is causing problems for the public, as roads and markets are gradually shrinking, impacting public access and movement.
